Brutal!
Was anyone else here on the eastern seaboard dumb enough to go for a ride today besides me?
I couldn't find a single thermometer that was reading double digits. My commute home was a new kind of challenge: Ride a bicycle while breathing the equivalent of warm tomato soup.
If I keep sweating this much I'm gonna have to ride my rain bike.

I was, yesterday too. I was sweating freakin' bullets yesterday.
Today it was cooler but I got a charlie horse in my calf and barely made it home. Crappy bike week.

Reminds me of my younger brother when we were at college. For some weird reason, he always picks the hottest and most humid days and time of the day to ride his Gitane Criterium. Always wondered why he never got heatstroke........ I guess he thought he was Superman.
I always rode in the very early mornings and late in the afternoon to avoid most of the heat of summer back then Still do.

I did 60 miles and 3000+ ft climbing Monday. Luckily I started at 8am and was back by 1:30p. Was about 93 F when I arrived home. I probably drank 1200 fl oz but didn't take a leak once. The bright side was my body was so numb from the heat I couldn't feel the pain in my legs until several hours later!

I did two rides today, the first about 35 miles after dropping my son off at camp, and the second 7.5 miles in 30 minutes, including the steepest hill around here, to pick him up at the end of the day. Compared to yesterday when it hit 100 degrees, it was relatively cool at 92. Actually, this morning was quite pleasant as I was home by 11:30.

Over the weekend I did two late-night rides (out from about 11pm to 1am) after it had cooled off. We had good lights on our bikes and it was quite pleasant.

My buddy Glenn and I have ridden three evenings in a row. Last night was a killer, so tonight we took it easy, did not go far, and ended at the lake for a soak. Even here in the NH mountains it's been in the mid 90s.

Yep, sure did. 15 miles in the morning. Did 20-30 miles each day last week in the Outer Banks. Sure it's flat, but...hot?
Training for 24 Hours of Booty at the end of the month in Charlotte: 150 miles in 24 hours in 95+ heat and high humidity = a lot of perspiratory activity.

Here in DC, sure, it has been hot, but what has also been unusual is that the humidity has been uncommonly low. I haven't been able to ride while I'm recuperating from some injuries, but really, I don't think this would be any worse than the weather that is 5 degrees cooler but much more humid.

I've been doing my normal commute in NYC, where we've had 2 days over 100 -- 10 km each way. Morning isn't too bad; I wouldn't even think about a lunchtime ride, and the evening ride home at 6:30 or so is a “take it very easy” ride. Still, I'm sweating like crazy by the time I get home. I probably drank a gallon and a half today.

Yep, it's hot. Riding is still cool.
I kind of like it. Besides, I like Popsicles.
Only days I've missed in the last 10 or so, the 2 that were down in the 80's.

I rode to work today! Great idea.. Funny thing is, I didn't start sweating until I got there, then I was sweating like a hooker in church... And on the ride back I ran over a staple and got a flat :/ thus sparing me the brutality of the ride home...

Not today. But I did ride yesterday and I'll ride tomorrow. It's not bad while you're riding, it's when you stop. I rode with a group and did took the pull for the first half of the 1 mile hill we climb. Our overall speed was off by about 1/2 MPH.
Then again, I'm in central North Carolina. These temps are no big deal.

I can break a sweat outside in January in a T-shirt and jeans so, I'm just about melting in this heat. I'm either out by 0600 or out after 1900 (buggy as hell). Popsicles are my friend and ice cream....

I did not thankfully, but I know someone who did yesterday when it hit 108 degrees with the humidex (42C). Humidity in this city can get unbearable.
