Info on Vintage Zullo Road Bike
Anyone know about vintage Zullo Steel Columbus SL lugged framesets? Vintage late 70's - 80's steel lugged. I am looking at older frameset - not a new one. Are these frames from around 1980 any good? I would build it up with period Campy of course !

I worked for a shop in Columbus, OH that sold Zullo frames back in the early to mid 80's. They were imported and distributed by a company called Wm. Lewis. I have a Road SLX frame that is made of lugged Columbus SLX tubing (SL was also available) and I have it built up with classic Campy Super Record components (picture attached). I still ride it on a regular basis and it has been the epitome of classic steel durability. I've taken pretty meticulous care of mine and still the decals are in bad shape, as you can see, being of the old lacquer style and before clear coats, so finding a mint condition frame may be tough. Some of the models like mine have engraved lettering on the BB shell, brake bridge, lugs and head tube that really add a nice touch. I did contact Zullo Tiziano a few years back and secure some stencils of their newer graphics, but I never had the heart to completely strip the frame and repaint it.

Zullo bike
I am clueless about bikes, so i can't offer up any knowledge. However, I do have a zullo bike up for sale, just don't know how to upload pics.

I think Zullo is pretty cool and pretty good quality. Zullo attended the North American Handbuilt Bicycle Show this year in Indianapolis, and actually built some special frames for the event instead of just showing their regular bikeshop wares. Nice folks and a nice vibe.

Well, I guess I can't claim to know much, other than the experience I've had with mine. I have a Zullo circa 1983. It was purchased as a bare frame and built up with, of course, Campy, originally Gran Sport, but then upgraded to Super Record. My frame is 53 so the Campy brakes wouldn't work, I had to go with Modolo, (shorter reach). It's been a great bike and I can't tell you how many thousands of miles I've put on it, I Love It! What a classic! Enjoy!
