Dallas area just picked up a new weeknight crit series
Race Schedule
In this era of disappearing races, glad to see a new one come along.
We now have 4 area weeknight crit series.
Tues - Tuesday Night Crit in Richardson (25 miles north of downtown Dallas)
Wed - Turbovelo in McKinney, TX (33 miles north of downtown Dalllas)
Thurs - Fair Park (near downtown Dallas)
Wed - Fort Worth Wednesday Night Crits
I don't think my budget allows for racing 6 crits per week. Maybe not my legs either. Or my nerves.

Nice. It would be great to get something like that going in Sacramento, rather than the endless variations on the River Ride.

We have 2 weekly here in Tulsa. One I believe is changing venues this year (deteriorating road conditions) but so far as I've heard we'll still have Tuesday and Thursdays.

That's a ton of racing!
We have two (ElDo, Great Park) about 60 miles away and had one in town but the attendance wasn't great. Not a great course and we couldn't transplant the guys doing the hammerfest that day.

Doing just the C crit wasn't much of a workout. Doing the C + B crits back to back was pretty decent workout.
I had a buddy that was doing the C + B + A back to back to back. (this crit series allowed Cat 4s to do the A race). That was pretty insane.

Thursday nights @ Seward Park had better attendance than our Red Kites (on Sunday) do, and there weren't even points up for grabs!
That said the traffic is at least 10x worse here, so could be a big part of the reason.

If you tried to drive to seward park, it would probably take a loooong time. I never drove there from the north, but more people rode to that race from so many different parts of western wa than drove it seemed.

Weeknight crits here (2 per week) pull larger fields that most weekend races. Surprising to me that so many find the time/motivation to race two nights per week, but guys love them. Some grumble that the availability of cheap weeknight races are killing weekend road races, guys get their fix 2x's a week for $20 total. Who knows.
It's cheaper and easier to be in the weeknight city league. And the bragging rights involve the people we know, instead of people across the state whom we don't know.

Last year, we had three weeknight options. They were not weekly, though two series alternated Tuesday nights and one was on alternating Wednesday nights. The Wed. series was an hour away. The Tuesday night series closer to 1.5 hours.
This year, the Wed. series isn't happening. I haven't done the Tues. series because it's too far, but I hear it's pretty well attended.

Good info and thank you. I'll get to the point where I am racing crits, but won't be near term.

The best measure of whether you are ready is to try it. Second best judge is to do group rides with guys who do the races. If you can sit in with them then you are physically ready.
