My sincere thanks for the offer, but I buy only things I can personally inspect or return at little or no cost. To me a used bicycle has to be pretty close to be interesting, as well as the right size, a good price, etc. I assume others share this view, which is why I posted the AllCraigs search link in #16 .

Fair enough, I was merely offering it on to those who may not have known about it. Maybe more relevant in the C&V world, where your unicorn may only be available on the other side of the country, but I wouldn't personally hesitate to buy something like that sight unseen.

A hodgepodge of parts but somebody's Grail bike here:

1982 Trek 720/728
$600




For sale is my top of the line Trek 720 / 728 touring bike from the first year of production, 1982. It is a 22 inch frame and has a 32 inch standover height. If you are considering this you know you're looking at one of the best loaded touring bikes ever made.

Components are as follows:
Cinelli bars and stem
Suzue cartridge bearing hubs
Rigida 700c 36 h rims
Gran Compe 450 brakes
Shimano XT rear derailleur
Suntour a-5000 front derailleur
SR apex triple crankset
Leather Ideale saddle
Avocet seatpost

Also comes with a Vetta rear rack and Jim Blackburn front lowrider rack.
