Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I'll look into the BBG bashes, thanks.

But with the long cage the chain just WANTS to drop. That's why I was running it short. It mostly just looks funny because that derailleur is meant to take up a much larger range of gearing than it currently is. Shifts fine.

Thing is it's not really working

I do appreciate the tip on BBG bashes. I'll be checking them out.

Okay, this is just sort of an experiment. I got some 30mm Kenda Kwick tires and jammed them into my 89 Trek 660.

41x17 freewheel. Seems really low on the flats, but the hills above Tahoe City convinced me otherwise. I think I'll try 39x17.

I took it for a 14 mile up-and-down ride through Burton Creek State Park behind North Lake Tahoe H.S. on Saturday. God, that was fun!

I’m new to the whole cross bike scene, I have raced cyclocross however for the last 15 years. I was usually on a FS bike with the fastest rolling tires I could find. Hopefully I’ll do better this year.

This is a Kuota Kross I just picked up, I have made one trail ride on it on one of the more technical trails that I ride and it did fine with the exception of the horrible front brake shudder. My buddy had some new old stock Avid Tri-align II brakes that I put on and it solve the shuddering problem and it actually stops now
One ride and I’m already upgrading stuff, this sounds like trouble!!!

That's right, I've been racing cross on a SS mountain bike or whatever FS bike I had at the time. I was usually the only one in the "A" race not on a cross bike. The new cross bike seems a tick faster

Thank you!

If u have most of the parts. Do it u wont regret it. I rode a carbon canti cross frame last year and its just no camparison so far. Love the discs and u cant beat a TI frame in looks atleast not in my opinon.

I have a cx disc only fram in ti size 56ish thats arriving in a month, new from factory (not a serotta tho).
Might sell it if it turns out a too small wich i think it will

cheers
