What is the silliest argument that we feed???
Could it be whether or not to use disc brakes?
Could it be whether or not to wear a helmet?
Could it be what the best tires are?
Or, is it clipless versus cages and straps?
Given that we never figure out who wins and loses these arguments....And, we each get to pick our own bikes...

I would have guessed the silliest would be: the proper way to lube a chain.

Missed again; I would argue that your '****' above was simply posited as a hypothetical. Consequently, when I -- as I am about to -- type '****' my **** constitutes the first genuine **** in this thread.
Please discuss, and ...

If I may be so bold, the silliest arguments are about which is the silliest argument.

The silliest or heated argument contest is tough because there are so many contenders. we haven't even mentioned all the good candidates for a short list, the whole vehicular cycling and best lane placement saga, and one of my favorites; whether accidents are accidents (or the predictable consequences of poor behavior) and let's not forget the CF vs steel debates. The list goes on, and it'll be hard to narrow the field.
