Those Alans never have really peaked my interest, I've too often heard that they rode like a wet noodle.

This however, definitely peaks my interest

I like this a lot! Solid price...cool bike.

Marinoni Fango CX frameset + extras - $600 (west philly)

hey there!
up for sale is a used, but well cared for, Marinoni Fango cyclocross frameset. this is a size 56, good for a rider anywhere from 5'10" - 6'2", roughly. i'm 6' even. handmade in Canada of colombus nivacrom tubing, with a chromed drive-side chainstay detail. this was raced and trained-on for two seasons, before i upgraded to a disc-cross frameset. the frame is decked out in 'giro-pink', and branded with the name of the lovely shop and west philly staple that i raced for, Firehouse Bikes, along the toptube. the fork is a custom-made number, with a flat crown lug, made by philly frame builder McGrath, based in north west philly. i painted it white, though both it and the frame are showing the normal signs of a couple seasons of racing use wear and tear. still going strong, though. all extras in the photo are included, and are listed below:

FSA SLK brakeset, front and rear
alloy seatpost, topped with a specialized avatar seat with Ti rails
planet bike full fenders
ritchey pro stem
FSA orbit headset
blackburn cro-mo bottle cage

this frameset would be a great start for a cx racing machine, an all city commuter, an all day gravel-grinder century monster, or whatever you want! bred to race, but tough enough to handle whatever you can throw at it. enjoy!

Yep, high by a bit, but easily my favorite Colnago scheme by far.

So seller wants 2 grand for a used bike and couldn't put new bar tape on?

I owned this one for a little while, the paint job is insane, there must be more than 50 different colours on the bike. My photos suck though, they are washed out. The white parts on the frame are actually a very light violent that had sparkles in it. The one I linked is my size but, yeah, too much moola for me.

Wet noodle? depending on who is riding it, a 250 pound person perhaps but to Sean Kelly who lots of races on Vitus bikes not so much. Sean Kelly who? Look him up if your not sure.

Price of the bike? Well you could be right but I know I've seen them sell for that much especially the ones with the higher end components.

Most of us would change out bar tape, saddles, pedals etc.

I don't see your point.

Is that 600 EX SIS even? I agree closer to 400 sounds better for a 30yo bonded frame

C'mon. You've never bought some crappy bike at a garage sale with three inches of dust and spider eggs on it?

You need to turn in your C&V merit badge. Show a little zip here.

Man, they sure do have good taste of bicycles in San Fran. First the Super Mondia last week and now this.

I wonder how much this retailed for?

This bike seems like a good deal. Has the same exact seat my old Univega maxima mixte had. If you buy it you gotta agree to join custody, and let me ride it every other weekend lol

That is a beautiful bike, I once pondered getting one new but I couldn't justify the expense at the time! I can't recall the price at the time when it was new but I think it was around $3500 with Campy components and that was in the late 90's or early 2000 (that one had chrome forks, more yummy!) My common sense took over my lust for it!

But for $15 they should have at least put new tape on it! That tape looks nasty. They had other color schemes for those, but that was one that I liked the best.

Frame is pretty, but I could just never get into straight forks. That's one of my main problems with so many modern bikes too.

Trek 520, $375

Decent price (I wouldn't pay it, but some folks want Trek and Trek only, so for those folks the $150 brand addition makes it a good deal). Pretty medium size. Won't last long.

That might be a Japan-made frameset, which would be a good thing.
