How many of you actually wash your jerseys and bibs after every ride?

Yes, after every ride.

Even when I rinse them out in a basin with soap, I feel I can still smell a little residue; compared to putting them in the washing machine. Preferable in washing machine each ride. At very least wash them out in a bucket I use for bike clothes when no time for the washing machine.
god. the smell when I find them just strewn about after a ride. Don't think I'd have the nerve to put smelly bike clothes on.
I smell big time. after my rides . Gross.

I always wash them cold, short cycle and hang to dry after each ride. I never put them in the laundry basket because I know what will happen!

I wash my shorts after each ride....in addition to being more sanitary, it prolongs chamois life.

I was going to answer 'wash them after every ride', but that's not strictly true. When I'm commuting, I wear the same clohthes in the morning and afternoon unless it's a stinkin' hot morning, in which case I'll rinse the shorts out when I get to work so they're a bit fresher in the afternoon.
I think I've got about 4 pairs of bibs, plus a few pairs of regular shorts, and quite a few jerseys, so I usually only wash them midweek and on weekends.

I place clothing that has been worn into a container next to the bed. Whatever occurs after that results in them being hung on a clothes hanger and smelling good in the spare bedroom several days later. Some of them end up in a drawer as well. In any case, I can usually find fresh cycling clothes in the spare room or in one of the drawers of my dresser. After I use them, I put them in a container next to the bed and ........

I wash my shirts and undershirt after every ride in the washing machine because I sweat so much from my upper body; as for shorts, I make sure I am very clean in my nether regions before I put them on, so I wash them maybe every other ride unless they are very sweaty. I'm talking about 1-3hr rides.

^ Good point. That would be nasty too.
This thread was making me think of an old teammate of mine who got silly ideas from cycling magazines. He read once that the riders in Le Tour just showered with their cycling clothes on because they didn't want to remove and replace their numbers. So when we did a 4 day stage race in Arizona, he did that. He also read about Le Tour riders pulling their short leg up and leaning on a teammate to pee to the side while riding, so the next training ride we did, he did just that... on a busy street in posh Westlake!!!

The answer to that question will depend on the gender and age of the respondent.

I throw the clothes into the wash after every ride. I've been always been apprehensive about the build up of bacteria.

Yeah, I like to conserve water. Shower every 4-5 rides. My girlfriend loves it.

jerseys = No. Most of mine are wool and don't get that stinky. In the colder months I wear a wicking/insulation layer under which does get washed after every ride anyway.
shorts/knickers = After every ride.
I have some Gore Tex tights (no chamois) I haven't washed in months. They get a good soaking every time I wear them, plus they're always over my shorts.
Caps I wash in the sink when they start to get crusty.

Hey, great new tactic for dropping wheel suckers: never wash your shorts. Make a stop at the local tacqueria for extra effectiveness.
