Hybrid MTB
I've posted this in Cyclocross too - appreciate any feedback
Hello,
I currently have a 1991 Cannondale hybrid (H600 I think). Sturdy bike, been great for years with little maintenance. I'm looking for something new, thinking disc brakes, and like the sturdy features of the cyclocross I'm seeing. I just cannot get over the drops.
Can anyone recomend a straight bar cyclosrosss, hybrid or mountain bike to look at? I do not want front or back suspension, want quality components (Apex or 105 style above). Is putting a straight fork on a Cannondale CX1 my best option? Locking out the front fork is not what I want to do either. I will go offroad with it occasionally too.
CD SL1 and Trek 7.7 seem too roadbike like to me - am I wrong?
I keep thinking about how great a Tricross with straightbar would be, but probably not a big market for that style bike.
Thanks!

The Ogre looks interesting. I like that it has the rear brake inside the triangle so no special rack required, but weird it doesn't have drop outs.

i am building one up from parts. i wanted disc brakes and the nashbar cx frame looked to be the one but alas 130mm disc brake hubs are hard to come by and big$. since i already have a set of 26" disc brake wheels and hayes brakes, i went with a mtb frame. surley fork and new headset are on the way. i have all the xt 9 speed stuff but will still need a new seat post and bb.
