Indeed. Many of the pines on the island are either dying or severely stressed as the water level rises and keeps their roots in salt water for extended periods.

Although not exactly a raptor, this duck is still a bird. 😁 He or she actually has a nice shady spot. 😎 And for DD, a couple turtles. ✌️

This is at the West Wetlands Pond, in Yuma, Arizona (right close to the Colorado River). This town is way cooler than I thought it would be, and I’ve killed about a week here, without really trying to. 🙂

That is actually an XK150, which indeed dates as you wrote. XK120 is late 40s, early 50s.

All lovely cars, thanks for posting.

I didn't see anything flying today (i.e. no birds), unless you count the little white stuff....

although it doesn't look as impressive when you zoom back out to a normal view.
Nothing significant, but definitely a sign that spring hasn't made it to central Illinois just yet

Wow. Thanks for clarifying that. From what I remember, from reading "The Last Open Road" series of books by Burt Levy, these Jags were actually capable of the speed their names claimed. So the XK150 was supposed to be capable of 150mph? From a ~200 hp, 3.4 litre inline 6? That's impressive! And yeah, William Lyons really had an eye for styling these cars. Way ahead of his time, I think.

My first car was a 1955 Jaguar XK140. I was 15 when I found it abandoned in a parking lot in Virginia, and a friendly police officer helped me track down the owner who was in California. I contacted him and offered all the money I had - $50. He accepted and I towed it home where I worked on it night and day for most of a year. Finally got it running for my final years in high school.

I still dream about that car and my high school sweetheart, smiling beside me. It was 55 years ago. Sometimes I dream I got the car back. Sometimes I dream I got the girl back too.

As I indicated in a prior post in this thread, I had a '55 Jaguar XK140 back in the late 60's. After I got it running, I took it out on the newly opened Route 66 in the Virginia countryside, and opened it up. As the speed increased, so did the noise. The tattered convertible top was crackling and thrashing, engine screaming and roaring road noise coming thru the floorboards. The speedo needle was bouncing off the peg at 140mph, but I think it was a malfunction. However, I think I exceeded 100mph and it felt like 500mph because the seat is only inches off the ground. Seeing that long, eager hood with bugeye headlights made me want to drive forever.

reminds me of the XJ220, it only managed 217mph (atrociously slow!)

I ride mostly in Lancaster Co. PA, and see a lot of "PA Dutch" country stuff .. '74 Motobecane Grand Jubilee (bought new) in front of a covered bridge during the 'Covered Bridge Classic' last August. You can just see an Amish buggy exiting the bridge. I did the 100K leg, sponsored by the Lancaster Bicycle Club. Great event!

We did a 40 mile club ride out thru Westlake, CA yesterdsy, and stopped at Stonehaus to re-fuel. They have added this big painted bunny near the bike rack. I was told it's an art project and they are all over town, but thjs is the only one I saw.

overlooking Red Bank. Lots of mean storms up north last night but just heavy rain here. Which it'll do again tomorrow.

Highly recommend seeing the series or specifically Victory by Design - Jaguar by Alain de Cadenet.

On a club ride this morning up the California coast, Ventura to Summerland, we passed by Carpentaria High School, and I was impressed by all the bikes in the bike rack. I don't know if our local H.S. even has a rack, but I see lots of Beemers in the parking lot.

My '64 Legnano, had since new. One of my favorite rides. After all these years, 4 Strava PRs today, 16+ mph average over 40 miles. No, I didn't ride it to high school.

In certain well heeled communities a Beemer is the new bike. Glad to see some kids still ride.

Bluebird Day in Durango

Picture is from Baker's Bridge, which is about 13 miles north of Durango and is a locally famous movie location from Newman and Redford's "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid".

It’s nowhere near as bad as it looks, unless it rains & gets everything soaking wet. 🙄😉 Heavier stuff goes in the panniers, down parka & light clothing & food in the pack. 😎

I saw this guy on his way to Florida and it made me cringe just to look at him. I mean, even if the backpack is resting on the duffel...

Also saw two backpack riders years ago on the western approach to Monarch Pass (elevation 11,312 feet) and still haven't gotten over that.
