I've got a couple of cycling caps but the kids wear them, yet to find one that comfortably fits my head, they all seem to have to squeeze on.

It is a rule that guys over 50 can wear whatever hat they like without fear of looking dippy. It is a natural law, like gravity.

I wear a cap under my helmet all summer long, just to keep my balding head from getting a tiger striped suntan.

A now defunct internet store I used to buy Gommitalia Champions from—Ital-tecno, from the Niagara Falls area—would often throw a few caps into the box along with the tyres as a freebie!

I have a few from recent purchases. My most oft used one is a Cinelli in black. Campagnolo is another but it doesn't fit as well. I would like an older logo Pinarello and Colnago. Oh and a Bottecchia would be nice.

My main one, a yellow Clement, stays bright, doesn't fade, and helps make me visible to traffic. Two others I can rotate in, depending on the jersey/shirt I'm wearing, are a black Cinelli and a now pink (previously red) Campagnolo cap. I also have a grey, checkered wool one for cold days.

Grab some new Newbaum's tape, too.

After your ride, run cold water over the cap and let it drip dry on its own. Don't wring it dry to preserve the color.

Off-topic of hats, but do you have any of these Raleigh wheel covers to complete your ensemble? If not, I've been meaning to clean some up for sale. Let me know if you're interested.

Some things never change. That sort of thing was good for entertainment on long rides. As you know, you win that little game by default if you simply don't care.

Columbus hat is a good suggestion too. I think I had one of those and at least a couple campy hats. Clement is also a good one that I remember.

Where I grew up, hats were mostly used to keep the sweat and sun out of your eyes. They slowly got phased out as more people started wearing helmets. For a chilly morning, one worn under the helmet might be just the thing.

I don't have an interest, but I've forwarded the photo to a buddy who also has a Raleigh Team bike, matching jersey and training jacket, etc.

This is what I like to use them for. I like them when it's not really cold enough for wool or something like that, but still too chilly to go uncovered.
Usually it's this one from Walz: USA Cap
I received these this Christmas:
