Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sad thing is looking post 1945 at the number retired per year.

The locomotives would either be on the rails, or in the roundhouse, or in the shop - because they needed A LOT of maintenance - or on sidings and in railyards. That 1500 is JUST Union Pacific.

Great to hear.

Shouldn’t all of our bottle cages be getting lighter year by year just from wear and sublimation?

Depends. If you don't wipe the Skratch off after the ride, they tend to get heavier.

Same with tires. I had a PR on one of my rides a couple of weeks ago and a day or two later, a friend pointed out that my tires had cords showing. My first thought was, that explains why I was flying - light tires.

How much variation is there in wear and sublimation?

You use TWO bottle cages? See now, there's your problem right there.

You have to opt in for flybys.

Maybe Strava wants you to get the premium version?

Opt in? Or be a subscriber? I don't remember anyone asking in the few days since I last checked.

OK. There is a FlyBy setting that must have been switched to no one can see. I switched to everyone, and now the FlyBy thing appears on my ride again. But there are no FlyBys today.

Speaking of cages, I used to use the old Tacx cages that had a plastic loop at the bottom to support the bottle. If you hit a bump hard enough a full bottle will break through the loop. Happened at least 4 times before I stopped using them. The other thing is they don't grip the bottle, it just sits in there, so they can launch a bottle if the plastic thing doesn't break. Launched one in an intersection when I was chasing and I tried to pin it against the frame and it locked up the rear wheel. Thought I was going to have an epic high-side crash but my cat-like geriatric reflexes saved the day. Or dumb luck did.

Yes. Everyone got set to no/private for the flyby feature.
