I hate the IRS, the IRS hates me

So that leaves me thinking. There's really only one thing that I have that might be worth enough money to pay help them off and just kind of move on...

My Bianchi.

I just don't really know how much to ask putting her up on ebay or craigslist. I'll put up pics tomorrow, but a lot of people here know the bike.

**** it - an old one:

Since that photo, a new wheelset, dura-ace low flange track hubs laced to Alex DV15s, unmachined flat black. Front is a little scratched from brakes when it was on a different bike. The rear is now slightly pitted on one race, but the front is perfectly smooth. BB has been slightly stripped, and is now a sealed Shimano held in with blue locktite. The tires are now nearly unridden NOS Conti Ultra 3000s in celeste and grey that match the paint better than the Vittorias in the above pic. I still have the original seatpost, stem and pedals (look style, celeste again, and you can still read the Bianchi logo on them because they were almost never used and I have cleats, too).

I'm thinking of putting a reserve on the complete bike at 900, but don't know if that's too high. There are some obvious cosmetic flaws (WTF did I dremel hereNT into the BB shell instead of just copying the serial nums for one), and some mechanical ones.

But I need to get rid of a pretty major part of my life if I want to keep living my life, so this might be up on the block. It's a 58cm c and t if that makes a difference...

Part of me thinks that with the abuse that I've put this bike through, no one but me should ever ride it. Then the other part of me looks at that letter from the IRS telling me that I need to give them 1300 dollars or they are going to start taking my paychecks. I have another bike, I don't have other assets.

YEah, I'll put up better photos of current build and specs tomorrow. I just have the feeling that this is going to be up on the block soon, and I don't want to get ripped off, or rip anyone else off. I know there's a lot wrong with the bike, but it's pretty, so I don't really know how to proceed...

More whiskey,

Jeremy,

No f*ckin' way should you give up the bike. Have you tried calling the IRS and making a payment plan? Worked for me when they threatened to garnish my sh*t.

Worn rim, pitted rear hub, defaced and stripped bottom bracket... yeah, I'm sorry but I don't see it going over $600.

In your position, I'd probably tighten my belt and talk to the IRS about an appropriate withholding schedule.

can't you have some bike shop appraise the bike at whatever your tax debt is + $15, give the feds the bike to auction and then enjoy a dirty rack of pbr on uncle sam?

[RANT]WOrker revolt now !
Prolitariat uprising !
Steal 1/3 (IRS) from people making enuff to eat and work
somewhere so they can be stolen from some more and then say
its not enuff ??[/RANT]
If you give up the bike they've not only taken your money but a piece of
you as well. Set up a payment plan. I have been in serious trouble with
the IRS and own them about 2300.00 this year too...Payment plan !!

Ya' if you call them they will work out a payment plan.
Note. Make sure you have some bills that are not real to tell them about or they take every last cent extra you have every month. Maybe a debt to your mom, on a loan she gave you. or something like that.
Other wise they ask you about your money per month and what your bills are and then tell you what you are going to pay per month and it is all of your extra money. 100%.
Good luck. but ya' don't sell your bike. just do a payment plan.
Eric....... Schnayke for short.

HereNT - if possible, think about finding someone that will sell you back the bike once you're back in black (a friend; someone here). you'll get less for it, but at least your baby won't be lost forever.

and hey, he's got a lil red star - seems like the worst that should happen is that this thread gets moved to the 'for sale' forum.

It happens a lot when people are self employed they fail to hold out enough dough for tax time. It's an obvious mistake, but a common one.

Full time employment + independent contract work sometimes makes it confusing
during tax time, and waiting until the last minute never helps.

Yeah, I've tried the payment thing, but then they tell me that I can't do it because of past years. The whole thing is from 1999 originally, and I still haven't gotten it fixed. The actual tax from that year is now paid, but there's like 750 in fees, and then another 500 from another year. I thought I was going to get money back this year that I could use, but it was only $89... Still need to figure out 2004 and file that too...

Sorry about this thread - I was a little bit drunk and freaking out about this last night. Probably shouldn't have posted it. As far as why it hasn't been deleted, well, it's not for sale, yet. I'm more looking to find out if there would be a market, and what I could reasonably ask for. If I had of put up a link to an ebay auction, and asked 'what do you think this is going to end at' trying to get people to look at my auction, then it would have been deleted or moved to for sale.

Ugh - I need caffine.

Not a clue, and I've never been great with the drug market anyways. I know I've had trouble even finding stuff to smoke that's worth inhaling, but others seem to fare better...

Yeah, I finally did that last year. The previous year I spent about 3 12-hour days with turbotax and a bunch of books, and it was a nightmare.

Well, by your own math, you could be debt free if you gave up alcohol for 12-18 months. But I know that is also "giving up" another part of your "life".
