Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, he is talking about the stem, it's a joke on BF that someone says whenever someone else gets a new bike.

Those one's don't need to be flipped. They pivot, so you can "push it"

I just bought the same as my first road bike but had the stem swapped for a non adjustable one. Love it! Enjoy yours.

Does this mean you carry when you ride?

your handlebars are higher than your seat. he wants you to flip the part between the fork and bars to make them lower.

But as mentioned before, your stem looks adjustable. Your bars should be lowered over time. Get comfortable and move slowly. Above all stay comfortable.

Lovely bike.

Stuff for long rides?
Get a bag that attaches under your saddle. Get tire levers, CO2 inflator, patch kit, and multitool. You'll want two water bottles and cages for them.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to have a clif bar in there also. And rubber exam gloves. Those can really help keep your hands clean when you need to do a dirty job in a pinch.

Regular stuff to keep in the saddle bag are cell phone, house keys, and ICE card. ICE card should have name, DOB, emergency contacts, blood type, known allergies.

None of the usual photo criticism? I'm shocked. Per BF standards, you "must" take a picture of your bike with drive side toward us (the second one meets this), and it "must" be taken against your white garage door. You would also lose points for the reflectors and the dork disc. The haters must be sleeping late or still out on their morning rides. Enjoy your bike and ride it like it's stolen!

You may find that if you lower your handlebars a bit and push your seat back a little bit that taking the weight into your hands a little more will ease the weight on your bum. You may also want to invest in some padded cycling shorts and chamois cream, as those will make the rides more enjoyable. The saddle on that bike isn't so great, but I put at least 200 miles on mine before deciding to change to an italian torture device.

Sorry, my question was a joke; I guess I didn't make that clear. I've never had the need to shoot somebody while cycling.
