I have the microSHIFT on my '15 Expert. I've yet to use them, as the bike is undergoing some upgrades as we speak. I should be able to report back some impressions soon.

First I heard of the 1x11 idea and eliminating the need for a front derailleur. Sort of smart -- you could do loaded touring with 40x42; but, I guess the market voted no.

What interests me about the MIcroshift triggers is that it seems like the newest ones have a trigger (pull) lever. This is the first non-Shimano product to have this, it may indicate that the Rapidfire+ patent is expired. This may have something to do with their increased OEM spec

Hugely disappointed by both options ..... I have a 2015 Sirrus Pro (x1) , and apart from a couple of niggly things, I love it. The 1 x 11 give me all the gears I need. Was looking to replace with a 2016 model with a M frame rather than a L, but looking at these, I might keep it. The Expert X1 just looks like a cheaper version. Mind you, the UK may not even get the X1. I had to get my Sirrus Carbon Pro from Belgium. May have to look at BMC.

The new Expert X1 looks great, but the Axis 2.0 wheels are a step down from my Axis 4.0, and I don't like the CG-R seatpost (I tried one on my Pro, and ditched it, as it put me back too far). Having said that, I'm sure a M size would solve the fit problems, as the stem on this size is only 90mm, as opposed to 105mm on the L. I'm also uncertain how the Rival 1x11 compares to the SRAM X1.
All this may be irrelevant though, as I've yet to see the Sirrus Expert X1 listed for the UK. They may be just as short-sighted as for 2015 when they didn't import the Pro, and I had to purchase one from a Concept Store in Belgium. I suppose the last (expensive) option I could go for, would be to buy the 2016 Pro (again, assuming they UK import it) and upgrade to a 1x11.
I have also been looking at the new BMC AC01 with the Alfine 11, and may try that before I decide though. There was a version with the X1 option, but Evans don't have that in a M.

As I said, I purchased the L size, but feel it's just a little too big for me (I'm 5'9") The stem on the L size is just too long for me, and because it is a unique design, it is impossible to get a shorter stem without completely scrapping the original headset. Specialized do not sell it as an aftermarket item. I also changed the setback seatpost to a zero option. Other than than, I love it.

Don't think I agree that you need a particular stem for this series a bike. I certainly changed mine. I'm 5'10" and one a large as well. After looking at the dimensions for a large vs medium, I put a shorter stem on my bike to compensate for the only real difference. Worked great, and made the bike much more comfortable. Don't know why you couldn't do the same? Am I missing something?

I have the Sirrus Sport. I did not change the headset spacers. Those are the same height as what I started with. All I changed was the stem. I went with a 70mm stems with 17 degree angle. The default that came with the bike was 6 degrees. This strictly on an intuitive hunch. Once I got it, and installed it, it was great. After the fact I found a page where you could put in different stems to compare. When I did that, I found that the height of the handlebars were basically identical due to the stem being shorter but at a steeper angle, and the reach was very close to the medium. So it appears I had done some intuitive fuzzy math in the bottom of my brain to compensate for the differences.
As for your bike, the stem looks different, but best I can tell from the pics, a standard stem will still work. It just appears those stems fit over the top of the steerer tube (perhaps the steerer is carbon?), but I'm sure you can find something to work.
The stem I ended up with is the Salsa 70mm X 17 degree. May, or may not be right for you. But it was something like $20 US, so it was worth trying a couple stems had I needed to do so. Plus, many bike shops will let you exchange stems until you get the right one.

Sirrus Sport -- that's the difference. Standard 1 1/8 threadless stem. Far as I know, the carbon Sirrus ('15 Pro and Expert; all the '16s) use some kind of 'integrated' stem -- integrated right into the headset. I believe that's what outpost2015 is talking about; Specialized calls it 'Flow' or something.
Probably does make it very difficult to change stem length/angle; Specialized should (if it doesn't) make alternative stems available to dealers so they can adjust at point-of-sale.
I dislike this kind of utterly pointless 'system integration'.

I'm with you on the integration. This would be an absolute deal breaker for the bike. Can't adjust the bike to fit easily, kinda make it all pointless IMHO. I very much shy away from proprietary stuff. I don't like Cannondales "Lefty" as it requires very specialized components (i.e. wheels). I've also been looking at Specialized Diverge for a later purchase. However, I have all but eliminated it from consideration due to learning it has non standard through axles.

This is the 'flow stem' which is standard on the Pro and Expert. The headset spacers are shaped as the stem, and lock in. The Concept Store were not much help. I've even thought about getting a local engineering shop to either reshape the conical spacer, or get them to make a custom one, so I can fit a shorter standard stem. The annoying thing is that the M size comes with a 90mm stem, and I even tried to order one, but no luck. The 2016 Pro and Expert look as though they have this also, so beware.

After thinking about it, I have seen allot of integrated handlebar/stem headsets for sale. I assume this is what you need. If this is correct, then AliExpress has many many of them. Just pick a supplier that has been around for a while with good response on sold products. Basically the same as if you are shopping on Ebay or similar. Also don't spend too much at a time. I've gotten carbon stems, handlebars, and seatposts. All excellent quality for 10-20% of equal local retail. But I've never spent more than about $60 at a time. Another option would be to look on Amazon if you are not comfortable with Ali Express. There are direct from China sellers there, and you have Amazon between you and them, so much more protected. The way I see it, is that nearly all of it is made in China anyway, so I'm just doing away with the middle men, and keeping more cash in my pocket.

Interesting thread and mind boggling how the Sirrus is evolving - for better or worse.
Is this 'retro' carbon pro, better or worse (2014)
