Shopping list for 2006 Cannondale power train and braking rebuild

I have a 2006 Cannondale Bad Boy which needs some updating. I'd like to put the following on it.

3 speed gear set
Disc brakes (the burlier the better)

I'm looking for mid-range recommendations, price wise. The bike's main use will be pulling a trailer with children in it.

Many thanks!

If the frame wasn't designed for disc brakes, I don't think you can add them.
Fork blades and seat stays are beefier to handle the stresses.

"3 speed gear set" ?? As in a triple crank set or a 3 speed IGH or a 3 cog cassette???

When hauling a trailer most want pretty low gearing. Do you? BTW are there hills in "here"? Andy

Added- The early disk braked Cannondales can have non standard disk brake specs. As example their rotors used a 4 bolt attachment. Do your fitting homework well and I suggest only buying what you can easily return for credit or refund. Andy
