Hi everyone!,

New guy here at the forum. Figured I'd start on this thread as I own a 2015 Sirrus base. I know it's not as "cool" as the upper trims, but I think it is still a very good bike for what it is. I use it mainly for commuting, pulling my son in a trailer, and riding on local bike paths (paved & gravel).

I'm currently saving up to get a drop bar adventure/gravel bike like a Jamis Renegade or Surly Straggler. Looking into all my options.

Anyways, the only upgrade I'm considering on this bike is possibly wider 35mm tires.

Even the base model Sirrus is a damn fine looking bike.

I should be able to fit 35mm tires on my current stock rims, correct?

Curious to know what are the max tire width people run or have had on their Sirrus's with V Brakes.

Thanks!

The rims (inside width) will be fine, as will brake clearance. It's the frame/fork clearance you need to check; depends on the year.

32 is the max. on my 2010 Sirrus Comp; your bike might take a little more.

Thanks for your help! It looks like there should be clearance for 35s. Anything bigger would be pushing it i think.

Perhaps you could go with a 32 up front and a 35 for the back?

Does this combo keep the front more aero?

No. But if you have clearance issues with the front fork it will allow you to use a larger tire in the back at least. Many forum members run a slightly larger tire in the rear.

After taking some time browsing through this thread more thoroughly (very nice Sirrus's pictured in here); I decided I want to get fenders, Ergon GP4 bar ends, and upgrade my tires. I plan on getting Michelin Protek Cross tires, but will keep the them 32mm because it looks like I won't have clearance for 35mm tires with fenders.

Sorry - I don't know the brand. I had the bike shop install them when I bought it in 2014.

Mods:
50/34 crank but changed cassette to 11x34
Wider bar
Shimano A530 pedals(flat side/clip side)
KMC SL chain (IMO, lighter chain shift better)

Rear Rack

Been searching online for a compatable rear rack (besides a Specialized brand one) for my v-brake Sirrus. Curious to see what others out there have on their bikes and what should work on mine. One on amazon I'm interested in is the Planet Bike Eco bike rack.
