Anyone remember me from the Usenet days?
I'm back. 2 months shy of my 70th birthday and as snarky and opinionated as ever.

Welcome back, but unless you were on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated I'm not going to remember.

I was on several usenet groups, in fact, I can’t remember what all of them are so remembering people would be a challenge. Having said that, WELCOME!

Bob!
I just saw one of your replies to a mechanics thread and said to myself, "Is this the same guy who wrote Spike Bike?"
A quick search also showed your name and a 30th anniversary edition Spike Bike book. Your avatar matching the cover clinched it.
Hasi really been 30 years since you wrote those stories? Every now and then something in the news makes me think we might still be headed in the direction of the stories.
I'd wondered what happened to you. It's nice to see you around, even though I'm hardly around much myself.

Yes, it's me. Yes, 30 years have gone by since Spike shot the hell out of 1998. I wrote a new story, "Escape From Texas" for the book's publication, the first new Spike Bike story in 30 years. It follows on to the episode where Spike faces down E. J. Ross, the Lord of the Rednecks. I also have another title in print, a novel about a troubled boy finding the courage to face his challenges. Joshua is nothing at all like Spike. Find both titles here.
My book
My other book
Yeah, the news still makes my blood boil. 30 years on, nothing has changed – except now it's SUVs instead of cars. Of course, I live in a concealed carry state now, but I still think riding with a gun is a terrible idea. I'm still here, that's payback enough for the bastards.

I was wondering if you were going to add any extras to the book. Okay, bought the paperback. It's just not the same as waiting for individual chapters to show up on Usenet.

You are a man of impeccable taste, good sir. Please leave me a product review after you've read the book if you decide it doesn't suck. I would also be happy to sign the inside front cover for you.
One of the agreements I have with Amazon is that I can't publish any of the material on the net, although a lot of it is already out there. From time to time, I have ideas for a sequel, set in the year 2030, in a society very much like the one we are living in. Spike and Annie have a son, you see. He's as good as his dad with bikes and guns, and he has a girlfriend who's a kickass martial arts expert. Nothing on paper, just ideas. If the book gets any traction, I might start another series.
