The most likely reason is wires from a computer with a cadence sensor like a CatEye Micro.

That's what I meant. BUT, you can fill a big hole with what I don't know. I, like may others here, buy used bikes. If there's a good reason to be suspect of zip ties around the frame, I'm always interested in learning.

Per ad: "Since photos were taken wheels were taken off bike and hub-bearings cleaned and greased and a broken spoke replaced on rear wheel, not put back on yet because thinking of getting new tires. Cranks and fork taken off in preparation to clean and grease their bearings. Bike can be put back together as-is in 30 minutes, it is a very simple bicycle.
Probably best for static display, but new tires are available and it could be ridden in a limited way for shows or up and down your street a bit. Original paint and finish, from an old local estate. A fixed-gear bike with no coaster-hub and no brakes, as simple as you can get. Price is $1650 firm."

Re: zip-ties, is it really THAT long ago that ALL computers had wires going to the sensors? Not sure what else one would expect on a bike of that era.

Seller and I have messaged back and forth a few times; he's not responded to a direct question about whether or not the fork is original. Based on his story about how he purchased the frame, it's possible that the fork is original to his 1981 purchase, but not the correct fork for a TX900.
At any rate, he's thinking $1500 is fair for the frame and fork, which strikes me as being somewhat...optimistic. I mean, maybe for "Dad bought it, had a heart attack the next day & couldn't ride it, so wrapped it in a blanket and put it in his closet for safekeeping" kind of condition. Maybe.

Its sort a blend of the 700 and 900. The tx900 had the fastback seat / stay cluster however this one doesn't. The fastback stays were prone to failure. It would be interesting to learn of Ron Boi's opinion, where apparently it was sold in '81. A custom frame maker and Trek dealer, and where did he acquire it - Trek? Fork as well... does it have crown tangs? Have seen some with and some without.
We mostly think of Trek as the giant bike manufacturer but in reality back then at its roots, was sortly a custom / production maker in a barn.
Edit: The red barn apparently still exist and used for CNC mold making in carbon frames.

Beautiful frame, but that build is an eyesore -maybe why it hasn't sold (along with the price!). I normally love modern parts on C&V frames, but that one just looks wrong with paired low spoke wheels, that saddle, yellow cables, and awful splash tape.

Who knows what's next in that bikes story, but will certainly always be unique.
Builds are always subjective, add that these early Trek offerings were mostly as framesets, many have evolved with component changed and rarely original -including paint. How many become available in your size?
Seller is not easily letting go of it but the description is open to just frameset only. The build change is easy. Again though, seller is holding strong.
Of course and like many things, what is one willing to pay? Some get turned on by certain things over the next, and then consider how often an opportunity comes up to acquire. There's currently an owner who's dangling a carrot and only one might get it. Its simple, he has it and not one of us.

Here’s the eBay pic of the 77 TX900 I bought. Starting bid was $599, didn’t make even that.Contacted the seller directly, and got it for less. Bike was absolutely perfect! These things don’t bring Paramount prices.

BTW: Vintage Paramounts are available for less than what your posted sellers original listing was. Matter of fact, I personally purchased one off of this BF sale section with Campy. The bike actually was talked considerably about but apparently the takers just didn't grab it. Seller then advertised a lower price and I'm very thankful for it--

I remember watching that one on eBay. I bought mine as a frame with some parts. I have no where near the $1800 being asked for the CL Trek into it. I'm not an expert, but I've never seen a chrome fork on any example I have ever seen. Sounds as if the seller is being vauge about its originality.
