Not sure why Chris Froome is not riding the Giro after winning last year... I guess he want to go for another Tour win, and was very upset he had to see Geraint Thomas win last year. I don't care what they say about being a happy family and all that. I am sure that Chris Froome was in agony over not winning a 5th Tour last year.

A day of firsts including our first dog dodge. Road rash for Roglic is a bummer.

All the major GC contenders are now out of the top ten because the peloton was so far back yesterday. Roglic is probably happy he doesn't have the maglia rosa for now. He is still the best placed overall GC favorite at the moment at 11th place.

Another dogged stage, in fact it looked a lot like the same dog from stage 6.

Wet Wet Wet
And then there were two.
Victor Campenaerts (LTS) lost the stage win with a chaotic bike change. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=322518428391375

Well , Yates has a mountain to climb now ( several) but i like the look of Nibali. he is the biggest shock of the TT's going so well. Everyone now tips Roglic but don't dismiss the Shark as he will have a real bite at him and might just eat him

My man Campenaerts would definitely have won the TT if not for that mechanical and bike change. He was really disappointed, such a shame.

Nibali will be nice for the home fans, they will go nuts if he can win.
Yates will have a tough time making up so much time at this point. It is not impossible, as he was super strong in the mountains last year, but he went too deep that time..

Yates has posted he is ill which i find rather puzzling on why a pro bike rider should let this out as that will make the others attack him more. The only slim hope he has is that Nibali and roglic attack each other constantly especially in one dynamic stage and then it could open the door for him. People wrote off Froome at this stage last year but yates is not Froome as Froome really is a outstanding athlete.

Carapaz is growing on me.
I was in Ecuador last January, and after realizing how many people are living up there at serious altitude, and seeing a few roadies on particular highways around Quito, I wondered whether there shouldn't be some great stars coming out of that country, like the Colombians. I'm sure the situation is not the same - there's a real racing culture in Colombia - but Carapaz is a partial answer to my musings.
