Gravel rides around Lake Tahoe?

Gravel rides around Lake Tahoe?
I'm dropping the kid off at some sort of mountain bike camp 
near Tahoe, and was thinking of doing some rides around there, while I am there. I am using "around" in two senses of the word, i.e., regionally, and orbiting the Lake. The on-road version of the lake orbit is 75 miles, and (if memory serves) the traffic is fairly deadly. So anything I can do off-road would have a plus.
There is also the "Tahoe Rim Trail," but it looks like you need a full-squish mountain bike. (Please correct me if I am wrong.)
Suggestions?

Flume trail?? I've ridden it on MTB years ago, I think it is doable on a Gravel bike.

It is 4 or 5 miles of a 14 mile trail, so if that is part of the "first half", both could be correct.

How far are you willing to travel from Tahoe? The Lost & Found ride is held on the gravel roads around Portola and Lake Davis. It's an amazing part of the Sierras for gravel riding due to the large, open expanses between the peaks. Portola is about a 45 minute drive north of Truckee.
You could also try and look up the route that was ridden in the Sagan Fondo gravel ride last year. It was in and around Truckee, so much closer to Tahoe.

The Flume trail is great. The views of Lake Tahoe along the trail are amazing. No clue what the current trail conditions are but the climb from Spooner Lake to Martlett Lake is about 1100 ft over 4 miles. Certainly rideable with the right rider and gearing. There is also a shuttle that takes you from the North end of the trail down to Spooner Lake. If you can swing it, do it. You won't be disappointed.

Rode the Flume many years ago. From my recollection, it will push the outer limits of a gravel bike. Great fun on a MTB though, especially on a full-suspension or plus/fat hardtail rig. Jaw-dropping scenery for sure!

I'd be the guy in orange letting people go by.
The cliff makes me more nervous than the path itself. I'd probably bring my 2.8" 27.5+ drop-bar bike for that one.
