The new Flaming Lips album leaked today...so I've been listening to that on repeat.
A coworker asked if I was tripping on acid...I think thats a good summation of the album.

Just dusted off the chart for this one, havnt played it in years:

It's the chart that was chosen for us to practice individually in-between our practice/jam sessions.

I've been playing music weekly with some co-workers for about 2 months now. We read charts and play jazz. We got keys (me), a guitar player, a sax player, and now a drummer.

The best part about it is that everyone, independent of their individual tastes, styles and competency, is rhythmically sensitive, which is soooo important. That's one of those things you can't really teach imo: The ability to adapt and be sensitive to what everyone else is playing without having to stick to a beat or a tempo. I'm totally confident that if we continue to practice regularly and develop a repertoire that we could get gigs, not that it is necessarily a goal.

Oh, and a bass player would free me up a lot (esp. during my solos) as it dominates my left hand. But thats OK w me because I enjoy playing rhythm.

I have been getting into Black Metal recently. Kinda weird because I never had much affinity for Metal outside of the older stuff like Black Sabbath and Mercyful Fate. I'm really enjoying a lot of it but I am really attracted to the Folk Metal bands.

This one has been looping thru my Youtube history lately. It is a "Weird part of the internet" kind of video so you may not want to watch with others around.

Love is the coal,
that makes this train roll.

Let me be, your everlasting light:

On a completely unrelated note, I've been trippin' on "Moon River" lately. I found a simple arrangement for it with chords last weeknd at my parents:

It's very pretty.

Based on friend's recommendations, I've been listening to Goat:

One of the most obscure and original bands in the world!
From Gothenburg, Sweden but with roots in Korpolombolo.
Many rumours have circled around this band. Some say they are illigal immigrants making music while hiding from the police. Others talk about ancient voodoo tradition in northern Sweden.

If you haven't already check out Agalloch. Incredible mix of Folk/Black/Doom.
