Shimano 600 Arabesque Group + Hubset

More to sell...PRICE REDUCTION ON THE 600 GROUP

This group came off of a bike that I purchased in the "big haul"...

Couple things on the parts: (1) they came out of one big purchase, (2) I really did not try to clean them up a lot, so they maybe a bit dirty, (3) generally, I have more pictures and (4) I will try and answer any questions.

To purchase...total will be the price listed plus shipping (will work hard on shipping cheap...or combining, if it makes sense)...Paypal Friends and Family (if you want protection, you pay the Paypal fees).

Prices are negotiable (do not be afraid to ask!)...and multiple purchases...well...you know the drill.

PM if possible please!

Included in the Group...the brake levers and cassette (could not confirm the cassette brand) are not Shimano 600 Arab, but they were working with this group

Cassette, 6 Speed, 14-28
Rear Derailleur, Shimano 600 Arabesque, 6 Speed, Short Cage
Front Derailleur, Shimano 600 Arabesque, Clamp On, 28.6 mm, Double Rings
Shift Levers, Shimano 600 Arabesque, Down Tube, Clamp On, 28.6 mm, 2X6
Brake Calipers, Shimano 600 Arabesque, Side Pull, Standard, External Nut
Brake Levers, Suntour Superbe, Standard, Gum Hoods (dry)
Crankset, Shimano 600 Arabesque, 170 mm, 9/16", Sq Tpr, 116 mm, 52X39

Cost of group is $100 plus shipping of $14 (USPS Medium Flat Rate)

Included with the hubset is...

SOLD Hubset: Front Hub, Shimano, 36 Hole; Rear Hub, Shimano, 36 Hole, Freehub, 125 mm OLD

Cost of Hubset is $15 plus shipping (TBD)

The pictures are, as best I can, in the order shown of the listing/cost below

He told you. ~126mm Shimano freehub of that vintage will be Uniglide, if I had to guess. It will have been spec'd for 6 speeds. You can possibly pull the freehub body and replace it with a 7-speed hyperglide freehub, but I'm not confident that 6-speed Uniglide were bolt-on rather than press-on (a no go). Or you can buy new hubs that do the same thing with a set of quando or unbranded hubs...

I think this is a fair question to ask even though previous poster is right on the money. If I were a betting man, I'd say these are 600EX FH-6261. 126mm, 6spd Uniglide. If they are, the rear one is missing the band covering the oil hole.

Fair question...it came off a bike with a 6 speed freehub...and, yes, I would guess Uniglide

I don't see any info about the crank. I am interested in that pending the info about it.

The seller might want to check that over-locknut dimension. I had this group as original equipment on my '79 Miyata 912 and I'm pretty sure that the rear hub was 120mm OLD. Also, that early cassette hub does not have a replaceable freehub, AFAIK. Note that the rear hub doesn't have a bulge on the DS for the freehub retaining bolt found on later Shimano hubs.

120 on the 5spd hub and 126 on the 6spd version. Seller says his is 6spd.

I can't believe this hasn't sold! One of the most iconic C&V group sets. I recently bought a Univega Gran Rally with the whole 600 Arabesque group set. Works great and gets tons of compliments!

it's more fun to argue over who can outgeek the other on knowing the ins and outs of early shimano gear . . .

Agree with the poster above, this is a fine group at an excellent price

If I had seen this when I was doing my most recent build last month, it would be on it. I was looking for Arabesque, kicking myself for not looking harder.

I just finished overhauling an 80ish Trek 4xx which could've used this group.

Still tempted to pick it up on local sale and save you the S&H. May have another 70s/80s cusp 4xx or 5xx series come up from Columbus this month.

Am I priced too high on this group? I thought $100 was a good deal for a 600 Arab group!

I think your price is good. Market seems a bit slow at present.

One suggestion: Sell the Uniglide cassette separately and mark down the rest of the group accordingly. Demand for Uniglide cassettes remains strong and yours is a nice range. I just sold a 7spd UG here for $24 shipped. Ask $20+shipping and re-price the rest of the group at $80. My 2c anyway.

If you are interested in splitting up, I may be interested in the Cranks and brakes.
