Been meaning to toss this on ebay but haven't gotten around to it. Columbus Genius frame. Paint is a little rough from a couple chain drops and you can see some tire rub but all the pretty parts people stare at are clean and ding free. 55cm seat 55cm tt.
Would really like a nice track frame/bike for my wife 52cm or a classic DeRosa in 54cm for me.

Trading a trek 660 if anyone's interested. Lovely bike but slightly too big, and i'm looking for a bicycle 53-55cm this time. The trek 660 is 22.5"/57 center to top of seat lug, ~56.5 c-c top tube.

Looking to trade this 1984 Specialized StumpJumper Sport that is slightly too small for me, for a similar vintage steel MTB/Touring frame that is slightly larger. Includes frame/fork, headset, cranks, seat post and bull moose bars/brake levers. Pictured with 650b x 40mm wheels/tires (not included). The frame measures 21.5" seat tube by 22.5" top tube (center-to-center). Would like to find something larger in a 22"-23.5" seat tube size (maybe even a little larger) and about a 23" top tube.

Hi folks,

Because of my penchant for salvaging vintage bicycles, the bike co-op that I volunteer at has offered me a 77 or 78 Peugeot PRN10E frame set. It’s dirty and a little rough with lots paint chips/scrapes and some surface rust. The frame is straight with no dents and no visible dings. It’s been stripped of major components; Stronglight 49 crankset and Mafac Racer brakes. The headset is French and I assume that the BB is also. Currently, only the fixed cup is installed, but it rest is probably somewhere in the shop bins and I’ll try to find it. I saw the Atax stem and Phillippe bars on a shelf. They are corroded, but should polish up. It has one of the all metal Simplex RDs (Prestige?) on it and those nifty shifters with the plastic boots. I have a Sachs-Huret FD if you would like to keep the shifting French.

I’d take this on and build it up with some bin parts, but at 62cm it is way to big for me. As the header says, I’d like to trade it for something of similar value, but smaller. I would prefer a chrome-moly frame with “forged” dropouts that was designed for 700C wheels. Seat tube CTC 54-55 and top tube 54-56. The only critical thing is the sizing.

I have a 53cm ctc square Puch Force XII full Reynolds 531 frame/fork/headset (Tange). Paint is decent, some decals are scratched and/or missing.

I also have an Italvega from the early 70s with Columbus tre tubi and chrome lugs and socks. No decals, fair amount of scratches but no dents. Chrome is good. 61 ctc ST and 58 ctc TT.

No rust in either!

I am looking for similar, light and lively, frame in 56cm.

Hi everyone,

I have a 23" or 58cm 1990 Schwinn Voyageur touring frame (Tange DB cromoly steel frame and fork). I inherited the bike from family some years ago, but the frame is too small. I am 6'3" with a 34" inseam, and am looking to trade for another 1980s 60-63cm touring frame of similar quality to hang my parts from (Miyata, Lotus, Centurion, Schwinn, Cannondale, Trek, Panasonic, etc.) The Voyageur frame and paint is in good shape, with a few scratches here and there. It wears its original shop sticker and identifying decals. Three bottle bosses, a pump peg on the head tube, and fork mounts for racks front and back. A classic of the 1980s production touring bicycle heyday. New Shimano UN-55 bottom bracket done recently, and the headset serviced. Here it is currently. I will update with more photos.

Hi Tom. When I was gifted this bike, I knew next to nothing about fit or bike sizing. I rode it for a long time in its original configuration with drop bars and low stem. I had a lot of neck pain even on short rides, and eventually I tried a higher, closer reach Nitto stem which did not help (and is there now with the Albatross bar, but I think the stem is way too short which has caused all the issues). Now when I ride, the centre of gravity feels off, and my feet are not on the right spot on the pedals, causing knee issues (on my 61 cm Peugeot, my feet are in perfect position). Do you think a too-short stem would cause that? Perhaps my hips are not flexing forward as they do on a longer reach bike? My inseam is 34" but I don't have a long torso.

@Ged117, I don't know enough about this stuff to analyze your problem. Maybe we could help if you posted pictures of a bike you have whose fit works for you. I see your handlebars are swept way back, negating all that extension on your stem.

If you can't get your feet in the right place, maybe the seat tube angle doesn't suit you, and a different size frame may not help. Or maybe the crank length is bad for you. What length is it?

I had a 58cm Peugeot that was technically too long for me. 56cm is my ideal size. And interestingly, I had some of the same components you've tried. Nitto stem (that I had to file to 22.0mm) with Nitto Albatross bars. The main thing I want to say is that you've got two fit problems (and I've had both) that are independent.

I'm only 5'10" but 32" inseam, so long femurs, which require the saddle is set back from the crankset. The seat tube angle, seatpost setback, and short-railed Brooks, all contribute to the setback for your femurs, or thighbones. I've had to buy the longest setback-seatposts (UNO) I could find to get Brooks saddles to work. In some cases, where I was unwilling to spend the money on a seatpost, I couldn't use a Brooks, so I used a more conventional saddle (as far as rail length). For a while I was even mounting very long mtn bike downhill saddles on various road bikes to get my knees in the right position over the cranks.

The other issue is torso length, and mine is short. My Peugeot was a strange 58cm seat tube and 60cm top tube! So I had to mount both a short-reach stem and the long sweepback Albatross to make it work. Ultimately it was all worth it because I ended up with an upright bike (necessary for me @ 66!) that was extremely comfortable and stable.

I'm curious what year/model Peugeot had a 58cm (center-to-center I assume?) seat tube and a 60cm top tube. Those are close to my (short leg/long torso) proportions.
The only Peugeots I've come across with those dimensions are ATBs and MTBs!

The vintage forum guys could identify the model and approx year. Feel free to post the photo or link over there. I just sold it, but iirc, it had Puegeot 103 frame tubing and I'm guessing it is early 80's, definitely pre-indexing. I bought it as a frame only and don't remember the dropout spacing. I ran it as a ss until just before selling, so it could have been 120 mm. Between the long TT and chainstays that was one of the most comfortable and stable bikes I've ever owned. But I have too many (great) bikes for my space and something had to go.

BUMP! Here’s hoping there is someone looking for a smooth riding, large frame for themselves or another and has something smaller to trade. Since the original posting I’ve done a solvent wipe down and found just a bit of surface rust where the paint is chipped or flaked. The frame set package includes original Simplex RD, DT shifters/cable guides, the French threaded Stronglight BB and Phillippe bars with Atax stem, plus a Sachs Huret FD and some sturdy Huret DT friction shifters. I also have a DiaCompe center-pull brake set with quick releases in the road levers that I’ll include if the trader would like. Sorry, someone already snagged the rest of the French parts.

I have a 1983 (could be '82) Fuji Supreme that was given to me. It appears to be a 25" frame (measured from top of seat tube to center of crank and is too big for me. It was pretty crusty, so I disassembled the bike and soaked the rusty frame areas with Evaporust as an experiment for my other bikes. The frame will need some more work to remove the rust as well as protection or repaint. It has what I believe are all of the original components - Sugino cranks, Suntour AR derailuers, Diacomp brakes, Nitto aluminum handlebar, aluminum rims. Free pickup in Cincinnati, OH.
