Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was wondering why he didn't respond to my post on his FB page yesterday. I had a weird feeling. Now I feel kinda sick. Awful news.

I just started a thread in Regional/Northeast. Living as close as we did I always hoped I'd get to meet & ride or even jam with Pete one day. This is so awful.

You're right, It's not.

Then again, being well familiar with PCad's courageous voice and principled stance, would perhaps want someone to point out the ongoing idiocy of a news report of incidents like this stating "Police on scene say the unidentified bicyclist was wearing a helmet."

Had it not been so, they could absolve the motorist outright. End of story. Nothing to see here. But we all know that. Sometimes it helps to say it out loud.

Was there even a motorist involved? The article only mentioned an SUV.

Haven't been here in a while but what a ****ty day to return to check on Addiction. I'd recommend not looking at that video, to be honest. I did, and it's very upsetting if you don't know the person involved. Since we all know him, it's far worse.

On a more cheerful note, today I had my wife's car detailed by a guy who came by Metro and bus with his stuff in a cart and did a meticulous job for 75 bucks (I gave him 80). We had a long conversation about current events and how to stay healthy in the heat. It was pleasant just to schmooze with a stranger for the first time in ages. Then wife put the cover I bought her for her birthday on the car. Yes, that's what she asked for. Our parking pad is under the power and FO lines to the house and birds **** all over her car.
