L2B: Hybrid w rigid aluminum fork mech disc brakes

Looking to buy 700c large/XL aluminum frame.. used bike for rain day/winter bike. Prefer al fork.. steel ok. Mech disc or disc.

I figured this forum the place to get some good input on what's available in past yrs... ie: good location to start the looking.

Thxs.

You have a lot of options. Any of the "fitness hybrid" bikes meet that criteria (Jamis Coda, Trek FX, Specialized Sirrus, Giant Escape, etc.). Nearly all will have an aluminum frame with a steel, alloy, or carbon Jamis makes a name for itself by doing the Coda in all steel (with carbon fork on the higher end models). Steel and carbon will usually "ride the best" in terms of fork compliance. Alloy forks are usually avoided if possible. Are you preferring alloy for rust resistance?

Find someone on C/L who has bent a wheel or something to the point where they're getting rid of the bike for parts. Most frames will be good. You can also look at the lower end models since the frames are sometimes the same as a couple of model levels up. Besides, you only want the frame.
