No, but that doesn't mean you should stop playing the game, if playing the game makes you happy (and you can afford it without jeopardizing your retirement).

Even as a wheelbuilder I often tell customers the same thing - "I have never lost a race because I had too many spokes."
If buying nice stuff makes you feel good then acknowledge that and embrace it if you need it. If going fast is what you want to do then.,...there are more effective ways of making that happen....it's just that those are the hard things to do...
