There's a gym chain near me called "Orange", when they opened up they publicized it by chaining orange-painted bikes at various big intersections around town.

How about this otherwise stock Schwinn Continental sporting 10 speed Campy brifters (that surely work correctly operate that derailleur).

You could probably come out ahead by buying the bike for $100, keeping the brifters, bars, and seat, then selling the rest. Co-op donation? I can't tell if those are alloy wheels, but you might get a few bucks out of them.

"Orange Theory" iirc. It must be their normal tactic, they did it here a couple of years ago.

You laugh but stranger things might be possible. My back-envelope says that Shimano 10-speeds (which have the shortest pull of all) on a Nuovo Record RD (which has a high ratio, about 2.2) should work on a 5-speed FW (which has the widest spacing). I've no idea what the ratio on that Huret might be, but it's at least within the realm of possibility.

I'm sure the Red One did something to deserve the treatment though.

Maybe a few flat tires at the most inopportune times. Throwing the chain in the middle of intersections?

With that much fork rake, it may have been too short to mount the other way.

Peugeot Take-Two

Peugeot Super Competition PX10 - $400 (Eugene)

This bike was listed a week ago for $75.

I tried quite hard to buy the bike. The original seller was just odd. Occasionally he would answer an e-mail. I got messages such as "let's meet at noon", but never got an address, meeting location, or phone number from him. I sent him my phone number with most communication, but no calls. I'm pretty sure it was several days, maybe a week before it actually sold.

With the "dork disc" behind the freewheel, I'd bet they are steel wheels.....
