Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

camelbak podium chill water bottle with no pull out nipple...

I wonder, is Camelbak the only cycling water bottle that you don't have a nipple to pull out with your teeth before you take a drink?

I have bottles from Elite, Specialized, Tacx, and Camelbak (podium 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 3rd gen). Personally, I prefer the push pull close design. Camelbak's valve opening is prone to dirt and dust building up so I only use the Podium on dry and non-dusty rides, Although for the 3rd generation current year model, the Podium dirt series solved that problem with a valve lid.

To answer your question, Specialized has an option for you.

I just got a 20 oz Breakaway Wave and it has a nipple lock. It's going back.

I'm going to see if Specialized will sell that Fixy cap separately.

The watergate is IMO best of both worlds. Yes, its push/pull, but you can pull it open once and leave it there forever if you want. But at least you have the option to close it a bit more securely/leakproof (eg for throwing in a bag) than the FIXY allows.

EDIT: FYI to buy: https://www.amaincycling.com/bike-wa...estPrice&lg=fb

Thanks for ^ that link with ordering the Fixy cover separately. I contacted Specialized to see about purchasing a fixy cover separately and the nice customer support lady asked for my address and is sending me one gratis.

You know.. don't hold me to this, but unless you also already have a specialized bottle, I don't think the threading of the caps on these are universal.

I don't know what Spec uses but my Camelcaps are diff from my other bottles. Could not find my Camelcap and fought for a week with leaks.

For time I don't need insulation, the camelbak podium caps fit polar bottles - the only ones I've found that take the lego.

What I do with my Camelbak bottles is I take caps and soak them in a solution of bleach and water. It gets into all the crack and crannies and does a good job of killing and cleaning.

The answer is maybe.

My purist cap does fit one generic water bottle I have, but not another one I have. OTOH it does NOT fit a Camelback podium, and likewise a Camelback podium cap doesn't fit anything other than another Camelback bottle afaik.

Typical bike product industry.. can't even settle on a bottle cap threading standard.

I got my Fixy cap that Specialized sent for free and it does not fit my Polar or Rapha (both non-insulated). It kind of fits the Camelbak podium chill, but it's not a squeeze and drink cap - if you try that it leaks - if there's no suction it will spill all over you.
