Electra Ghostrider Front Brake

Has anyone ever added external front and/or rear brakes to an Electra Ghostrider?

I had to look that one up.
can be done but I think some fabrication will be needed to create a bridge to mount a caliper brake.

a drum brake might be easier- Atom made the drum brake for the Schwinn Krate bikes

Thanks for your question Chris. I would consider any type of brake including drum brakes. As you might know this bike has got drum brakes (coaster) in the back and no front brakes. I'm converting it to an electric bike by adding a Bafang 1000 W mid-drive motor which I've already purchased. When I do that, I need to come up with front and rear brakes for the bike as the rear coaster brakes will have to be disconnected. I really like the shape of this "chopper" bike and don't mind any fabrication or modification to makes it work. The bike has three internal gears which is ideal for the conversion to electric. The only issued is the brakes.

Thanks for your reply. I don't mind doing any necessary fabrication. Please see my response to Chris Chicago.

This one seems to have cantilever brakes, so there must have been two different, or more models.

Thanks for sharing - this gives me some ideas. As far as I know, there was never a model with Cantilever brakes so this must be a modification/customization. Starting 2019, they put disk brakes on the front, but prior to that, they didn't have any front brakes, to my knowledge.
