Also heard from the stages guys that allegedly the tooling for DA 7700 cranks broke and they are not in a rush to remake it. Apparently they either might stop making track stuff or update the crank and BB to hollow-tech and more modern standards.

The new stages head unit can record data up to 4 times per second with a change in the setting. sound similar to the old srm's . Apparently 4 times per second is the max that ANT+ can handle.

I heard Shimano will not be repairing or remaking the tooling and will not be producing new DA track cranks. Get them while you can.

(Re-hosted to imgur in case the FB hotlinks break)

Interesting. A bayonet fork that will take a standard stem.

Also, a decently tall head tube and a fork that requires that new type of axle (I forget what it's called). Aero seatpost.

So, I hope the seatpost and dropouts hold up. I also hope it's affordable. There doesn't seem to be any tech that would make it prohibitively expensive. One would have to convert the hubs of all of one's training and race front wheels to that new axle type, though. That may be a bummer for some and a deal-breaker for others.

The Dolan page just resolves back to the homepage, but the Felt page is working.

I've noticed Valente riding a new Felt in omniums at World Cups this year and have wondered what's up with it. It looks like part Argon18 and part Cervelo T4, or it sort of looks like the pursuit-only TA FRD was adapted for more general use. I'm a little surprised that it has a fairly conventional fork without any sort of styling for stem integration like a toptube/headtube cutout. As such, especially compared to other bikes making their way onto the track this year, it's a little underwhelming as a 'superbike' but like the TK1 could be a bit more appealing as a bike for actual purchase. I think it looks great too.

Here is the link to the Dolan: https://www.dolan-bikes.com/dolan-tr...-frameset.html

It's called the Styx. Retails 1999 GBP - about $2600. There are no pictures, the geometry link does not seem to work, but it does look like you can put a regular Alpina Wing fork on there.

The Felt does look nice, but I agree that it seems like a step backward. Geometry also is not yet available.

Also, while I know Carlton hates aero and integrated posts, I kind of liked the concept of the Felt, where the post could be removed but had a lip so that you could travel with the bike and not have to worry about setting up the seat height or slippage (at the frame.)

the Felt probably is a step forward - the TK1 was designed in 2007 and I'm sure that Felt's engineers had a long list of things they could improve that they noticed over time. It's just interesting that it's not the same step forward that all the other bikes this olympic cycle are taking - there, we're seeing a lot of the same design elements - a hinged fork, one-piece bar/stem, stem/toptube integration, a lot of 3d-printed titanium. None of that here.

Just registered, but been reading the message board for a while... wanted to chime in on a few things.

pretty sure the Dolan is a open mould frame, itís sold under the ican brand name and comes with a matching stem. Since the fork is not really a bayonet style, more like a cover for the head tube it can take a regular stem. Also the front axle is regular and I would guess the fairing is not really doing anything in terms of aero.

The frame can easily be found on aliexpress.
still if Dolan put their name on it, it will be decent.

i like the felt, looks a lot like their new aero road frame. Though Iím not sure the head tube is very aerodynamic, could be narrower since thereís no cables like on the road frame..
also i donít think standard stems are that much worse than many of the semi integrated ones.

pardus (Chinese manufacturer for many brands) has registered two new track frames and I canít find any information.

also the de Rosa frame Viviani has been riding looks like a open mould. His teammates were on the older pardus Track Frame (Same as Holdsworth)

I think the oem manufacturers are trying to keep up, which I think is good as it opens up more options.

Here are the Ican options I find when googling:

https://www.aliexpress.com/i/33058921529.html

The second one does look very similar.

clicking through on aliexpress, i'm seeing a number of 'new' open mold track frames out there, including a bunch with bayonets, recessed stem mounts, stem hinges, and other stuff getting increasingly common on track bikes. OEM manufacturers sure do surf the trends.

Thatís the one.
i just didnít want to start my first post with aliexpress links (canít post links yet anyway).

another frame worth checking out is Handsling TR3evo which is a evolution (or mix?) of several open mould frames they used in the past. They claim to own moulds for road frames so this one might also be exclusive to them.
i like the design, it also comes in custom colours and has a decent price tag.

i think a lot of smaller companies do development or get their ideas to manufacturers but donít have enough money to buy the moulds. Even though not many track frames Thereís a lot of things happening right now.

regarding oem/open mould frames. Look at the six days in the last couple of years... Dolan, cervelo, many rebranded open mould frames.
you never really know about the Carbon lay up but I would be surprised if anyone got something special.

also I havenít seen the aerocoach lann handlebars Pop up in the thread yet.
basically the 3t Sphinx I always wanted - narrower, (probably) stiffer and less weird looking.
(I have a set of Sphinx, never ride them, just wanted them because of who rode them and how wonderfully weird they will look in 10years)

The Aerocoach bars look a little too weird to me. I'm more interested in the Velobike ones.

Regarding Felt: They probably feel like they have to make something, anything new for the Olympics. The bayonet system is neat, but heavy. So why bother?

Is Team USA sending anyone for the Sprint events? Why bother making a really stout bike?

I want to see more of that Koga that was debuted a while back.

A friend of mine did. While itís not without hurdles he got some pretty good frames for a reasonable price. In his own words he was at the second best quality leve (now he only does titanium in Europe) to get to the top you have to order a lot of frames. I ride one of his road bikes and itís as good as any other brand I had before. Just different like any bike has itís own character.

the aerocoach bar (in Carbon) is way cheaper than velobike, though Track specific velobike is a company/project i keep a close eye on. Really good ideas!

havent seen the new Koga kinsei on sale yet. Also information is sparse, but a lot of Dutch endurance guys switched now.
in the video they showed the factory in Taiwan (better frames mostly come out of Taiwan, but might be sold through China because itís on the mainland)
The Kimera, as nice as it was, really looked dated

Oh yeah the price of the Velobike bars puts it firmly into the fiction section of the library. But the aerocoach bars - I can't get over the weird shaping of that "forward position" grip. I think that would be very polarizing.

I own the frameset in the 1st link posted, and raced it at Burnaby a few weeks ago. No issues so far. Quite stiff compared to my old alloy Felt.
