A different headphone rant... Use headphones... PLEASE!

Yeah, same guy, slightly different subject... this time I am here to ask you to please use headphones.

Twice in the last two days I was stuck in a public area, waiting... for different reasons... there was the usual traffic noise... a whining baby or two... a couple of kids doing the "don't touch me game..." AND a cacophony of smart phones making dumb noises... everything from game noises, to movies playing with loud dialog/screams/effects, to several different forms of "shared music." None of it I wanted to hear, and certainly all taken together, just more acoustic pollution.

So what gives... the Walkman brought us personal sound; but now it seems some folks feel compelled to "share." And of course the more that share, the louder the NOISE.

So, wired, wireless, in ear, on ear, whatever... use your damn headphones, will you...
PLEASE.

I used to have this model. I wish the cassette decks had worked. It kicked some butt otherwise.

Now imagine 6 or 8 of those ^^^ blaring away, at least two of which are making random bing bong bang game noises, and you are stuck in line.

Have a nice day.

Pfft. During the winter I often ride the bus to work in Philly. That will test your self restraint. One time I was so disgusted with the noise around me that I got off a ways before my stop and walked the rest of the way in the rain. And for the love of God, it's called a shower. Please use it every morning if you plan to ride the bus.

Perhaps genec needs a comfortable set of noise cancelling headphones to wear around....Easier to fix the situation bothering you than to change everyone else.

I would, but the battery died in my BT headphones, so now I have to use the speaker.

This times a thousand! WTH is it with people thinking everyone wants to heair THEIR music and listen to THEIR phone calls. Speaker phone is NOT for use in public spaces!!! This is especially true in a public restroom. Come to think of it, don't take a call in a public restroom....ever! And if idiots doing that weren't bad enough, I was feeling my normal frustration with someone having a speakerphone conversation in a mens room at a high school football game last season but was then completely flabbergasted when I realized he was ON A FACETIME CALL (with a female) while in the men's room!!!

Yes, it seems some folks have no sense of phone courtesy, nor personal space... they just push their space into yours, acoustically. I would almost be willing to do "battle," but the I would merely creating more noise, and disturbing yet more people.

It is almost audio graffiti... "I'm gonna do this here, and 'mark' my space."

I figure headphones are to block out other people's noise. I usually try to remember to stuff a set of earbuds in my bag if I have an all day medical appointment at the VA in Dallas, since it's six buses and two trains round trip from Foat Wuth.

I didn't mind boomboxes back in the day. At least the audio was tolerable. But cell phones cranked to 11 sound awful a few feet away.

Come to think of it, I was a boombox offender back in the late 1970s-'80s. I enjoyed Patti Smith's "Easter", Elvis Costello, Graham Parker and Joe Jackson so much I wanted everyone to enjoy it.

I was on a plane once where the couple right behind me were watching a movie (I assume) on their laptop, and it sounded like car crash after car crash. Just constant crashing sounds. On a plane. I waited a few minutes for it to end, which it didn't. I turned around, looked at them, and said, "you gotta be ******* kidding me." They apologized and immediately turned it off.

Larry's wife. IIRC at that point in the series Larry and Cheryl were divorcing, and competing to keep friends.
