Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thank goodness, because otherwise, boom.

But I have to give this thread its due, this thread historically has always been peaceful, frequented by people who respect one another. A little dust up now and then but nothing huge. Virtually self-moderated. I’m only here for many years because I like it here, not because I have to monitor it.

And yeah, I've seen that same video on that aero model. That stop looks like a really weird decision - most companies simply rely on the handle smashing in to the top tube.
How far is it allowed to turn? Maybe it's there to prevent a full on wheel disitegration at speed. A possible partial recovery before the faceplant.

From the Excel Sports R3 ad "The only variation is the Cervelo Connect 24x90 bottom bracket for direct BBright fit with the 24mm Hollowtech II spindle of the R8000 crankset."
Is that Cervelo code for the Wheels Mfg. adapter?

I'm guessing that that is Cervelo's in-house BB. The Wheels Manufacturing one is BBRight-Out-1 or something like that.

Thanks. Found it

Didn't watch the whole video but got the gist of it.

Far enough that you could still do a u-turn like you would on a normal bike.

If you're going fast enough that you would disintegrate a wheel and the bars turned that far, I'd say you're already having a bad enough time that recovery is not possible.

Yes. XR31, CX-Ray spokes, and American Classic hubs. I can honestly say I built them, and haven't messed with them since. I was happy with that, even though it takes me like 10 times longer than a real wheelbuilder.

Jeez, new thread and I can't even being to keep up.

I did the zwift twice this week so far and caught the April Fool's 80's theme. Later found out it pissed off a bunch of people because the "unusable" graphics gave them a headache. Geez.

Wearing masks and gloves at work now. That's fun. Thinking I will rock the neck gaiter and maybe even use it at the grocery store. Nowhere near N95 protection, but it's something.

Dallas County just extended stay-at-home orders until April 20th. I imagine Denton might soon follow suit. That will effectively cancel school for the year for my wife and daughter as the last day on the original calendar was April 21st.

Ok, now to go back and catch up.

RX810 is 11speed = Ultegra
RX815 is 11speed Di2 = Ultegra Di2

Shimano is pretty big on drivetrain systems working together.

Also, bike weenies need groupsets so they can be OCD about matching everything.

As I was out for a walk for booze and bread, the general reluctance to be in close proximity to others made me think of Best Picture Academy Award Winner "Demolition Man," with Sly, Sandra and Wesley. My teenage mind distinctly remembers the virtual intercourse with a computer intermediary, and I want to say that physical contact in general was shunned. Anyway, it got me to wonderin' how much effect the current situation would have on shows of affection in the future. Will things like hugs and handshakes go away? Or will people just be far more selective with them? Hmmmmm.

They totally redesigned the STI levers. Changed the crank design to allow more clearance for tires which required an update to FD geometry -- the chainrings are 2.5 mm farther from the frame than before. Stuff like that.

In other consumerism news: I simplified a bit by selling off two guitars I was not playing (Only three of my others get any real play) and finally took the Schott jacket plunge. I have been considering buying my first real leather non-motorcycle jacket. You know, the thing I plan on wearing until I'm dead. Schott sent out an email coupon presumably to drum up business during what is a pretty devastating situation in their part of the world.

I bought the P673 in brown. It's glorious. I sized snug, so there will be some break in. It's soft enough, but extremely thick. It fits comfortably, but will need to stretch slightly in a few spots and I am also still on the downward trend in weight so we will meet somewhere in the middle on stretch vs. trimming myself down.
