Road Bike weights?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I refuse to weigh my bike. Even on a really tough hill climb, like Mt Washington, a pound is only about a 1% difference in time. It's basically nothing on moderate climbs around DC.

When I'm racing Rasmussen up the Alpe d'Huez, then I'll worry about a pound.

I like wasting the young guys who can't quite understand why when they attack on a hill.
What hills in Palm Beach Florida would these be?

I also plan on buying some light weight parts, and getting the weight down close to 20.
If your bike is fully equiped for touring the extra weight dont mean much as youll have much lower gearing. Same as i have. My largest cog on back is 35 and smallest on front is 40. Smallest on back is 14 largest on front is 52. Weight wise my bike is just under 18 pouns (no fenders or paniers just got a front mounted bag and a rack on the back. I do how ever want to get all the bags etc for my bike.

18lbs on my LS . w/o bag nor bottles on an old dial scale (need to find a digital one); I suppuse it could be less on a didgi scale considering its such a small frame

Not sure 'bout my wife's Rubaix

I just bought a 2005 Felt F2C. Because of the rear hub problem with the AC CR 420's, I had Bontrager Race Lite Wheels put on (my other options were Mavic Equipe's and Velomax Vista SL's), and my LBS gave me a good discount. Bike with with Speedplay X-3's was 17.6 (on LBS digital hanging scale). The stock tires are listed as 305g, so when I wear through them and put on some decent race tires (at around 175g)the weight should be down to close to 17. I plan to upgrade the wheels to something real lite someday too.

I only wiegh 137 (137 * 12% = 16.44), and like hill climbing, so I do what I can to keep the bike weight down.
