Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

KMC X10SL chain

Hello,

Just wondering if anybody is using/used this chain before? It looks like a nice lightweight chain, but I wonder how durable it is.

Thanks...

500 miles on mine so far on a Campy Record drivetrain. Quiet, smooth, light, shiny... Worth the $$$ IMHO.

FWIW KMC makes the chains for Shimano. I run the DX10 and love it. For the cost of these chains they are hard to beat.

Not 100% sure but that is probably a DX10 not the SL10. The SL runs like $40-$50 I believe...that price is what my LBS gets for the DX10.

No this is the SL10 which is quite a bit more expensive. https://www.kmcchain.com/index.php?ln=en&fn=bu_bicycle#b

No problems thus far, about 1,000m, showing .25 wear on the Park Tool checker. I'm pretty easy on chains, I spin mainly, don't stand or hammer, but it seems well made. KMC came stock on my Bianchi.

What kind of wear are you getting out of the KCNC cassette?

+1 - the Forte is a DX10.

I run a DX10 mainly because for the performance value for the price. I have an SL in the lineup next.

KMC is my current pick for best 10spd chain out there.

Great chain - the best that I have found. On my Campy drivetrain - it is smooth and quiet. I keep the chain clean and oiled and it wears very well - at 1400 miles, I can measure no perceptible stretch. Did I note that I keep it clean and oiled?

I'd consider as an alternative the Wipperman 10S1 stainless steel chain.

The gold doesn't stay gold exactly.

Don't do what I did and ride it into the ground then try and get more life out of it.

They are really really light. 228g.
