90 miles on an unusually warm day for mid-Sept. Burlington, VT bike trail to the bike ferry across to the Lake Champlain Islands and around on the quiet shoreline roads. Never had to shift from the large chainring - hence the mileage. On the ferry was a couple on a tandem. She was blind. Touching sight.

I got a bad case of the lazies, and have not done a ride in the last few days.
I am just tired of this 90 degree weather with Fall upon us next weekend. I am ready for some cooler weather.
Got in 100 minutes today.

25 miles Monday evening on the hybrid, first longish ride in a week since it finally stopped raining and it wasn't muggy outdoors. Temp was around 90 but dry and pleasant. Not much energy but enjoyed the leisurely ride.

Biked to work today. 21 miles.
Do I get any Cat 6 points for passing two e-scooters on the ride home?
The first:

9 miles Tuesday night, casual ride to test a new freewheel/chain combo. Everything seems adjusted well enough. Might join some friends for a casual group ride Wednesday night if I'm feeling up to it.

20 miles solo (more the rule than the exception out here in coastal Washington state).

Commuted, so I expect ~19 miles after the return leg.

Actually, I was so exasperated by inane traffic in midtown that I did something I never do -- salmoned against traffic rather than going around the last block to my office -- so I wound up shaving 0.5 miles off the inbound leg. So call it ~18.5 miles after tonight.

Wasn't sure how the riding would go yesterday since the knees have been talking back lately. Missed the midnight departure time but managed a 12:50AM roll-out under a star studded sky with an approaching full moon and almost no traffic. First segment was going smoothly when one of my Nite Rider lights detached from the bracket, hit and rolled yet still worked great until I got home. Tried to recharge and NO-GO, guess it's time for a replacement. Totaled 75 miles, showered, kit change, some breakfast, bike change to 2018 Roubaix and out for segment 2. As the sun rose into the sky so did the temperature. Into the low 90's°F by the time I made it back home with another 52 miles in.

127 miles on a day where I was hoping to just match my age of 68 so I have a few miles in the bank for next ride.

Not today but yesterday. Was down in SoCal to move my daughter in to her school. Another beach trail ride with my buddy from Seal Beach to Newport and back. This time I borrowed his USPS Trek:

I’m guessing she attends school at Irvine or Long Beach? As a valley dude back in the 1980s, summer days were at Seal, Huntington, and Newport beaches.

On the subject at hand, I rode back from the auto dealer, where I dropped off my car for service. I figured with the typical full courtesy shuttle, in morning traffic and the other customers needing to get somewhere, I would get home faster just riding the 10 miles. Glad I did.

Yeah UCI.
I lived down there for a few years in the late 80's and my friends and I would also hang out at Huntington or Seal. Good times. lol

45 tandem miles today on a club ride southeast of Indy. Mostly rural, quite flat - only got onto the little ring once. Cooler than it has been for quite a while. High around 60 on the ride. And cloudy.

I had a much better ride today than I had expected after Thursday's longish ride. Legs were still tired but managed to hang on and even do some pulls. Totaled out at 73 miles.

Yesterday was the local charity ride, the wife, three kids and I rode the 12 mile route since it was the first time for the kids. I had gotten them all C&V steel rides and they have been training for a couple of weeks. The good news is that they are excited to ride more so they can go on the longer routes next year.

Today I went out and got 30.4 miles in. It got a little rough when the headwind got up higher than predicted but I made it. Sore, but thankfully not painful, knees. Tomorrow will definitely be a rest day.

32 miles today, 22 yesterday. Would love to ride the several keys(islands) close by but red tide has been a real bother so I haven't, yet. 90s and humid, just the way we like it. Happy autumn.

Was headed off for my beach ride. After getting out of town, could see it was totally socked in with fog. Came up on a favorite trailhead, and decided to try it on a road setup bike. 1.5” road tires, upright bars, fenders. Worked surprisingly well. Had to be mindful of traction. Probably a good lesson in smoothness. I did walk the cattle guard!

rides this weekend

Spent most of my free time this weekend at bike shops looking at 2019 hybrids and flat bar road bikes but managed to put in 6 miles on Saturday and 8 miles on Sunday. I know, I'm a lightweight but slowly getting back up to speed after a long time out of the saddle. It's all good!

Single digit rides are better than not riding! Gradually increasing your mileage is a good thing.
