Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone use Eliel clothing?

Anyone use gear from Eliel?

https://www.elielcycling.com

They are pricey and I'm wondering if the quality is commensurate with other brands in the same price range.

Particularly interested in their bibs.

Isn't that the kit that the Vegan Cyclist wears? Pretty certain it is. Take it with a grain of salt, as he's not going to be unbiased, but he's pretty high on it - poke through some of his vids and there might be a review/thoughts.

The paceline crew use it too. Havent used or felt it in person but have seen some of the racers with kit on and it looks nice. No idea about the chamois though

They're based in San Diego and pretty popular down here, sponsoring many of the racing teams in SoCal. People seem to like their stuff a lot and they get good testimonies.

I'm not sponsored by them so I haven't tried it yet. I get (most) of my clothing for free but have yet to try Eliel and typically fork out the $$$ for a nice pair of training bibs every once in a while; I might give them a try b/c I could probably source a good deal (friends w employees) and again people like the stuff.

A lot of friends I know have been using Eliel for years, good stuff. A bit too pricey for me. I'm more of a Voler Black (when they're on sale) person.

How do you pronounce "Eliel"? S-Ram? Shram? Some other way?

I'm biased since I'm on the Eliel Factory Team. Fortunately we get a team discount.
But these are my favorite bibs!
My race team kit is from Squadra Pro line and I wear Castelli Aero bibs as an ambassador for another team.
Hey TMonk, I know a guy

Stumbled across this guys IG feed the other day, not sure if he has a collection 1,000s of eclectic and vintage kits or what his deal is, but sure looks that way.

Coolest kit I’ve ever seen!

back to topic,

i have 2 kits made by Eliel right now, bibs and tops. One kit is approaching a year old with good regular use, at least once per week. Hasn’t stretched out, still fits perfectly. One top, the zipper has sometimes opened from the bottom when I’m putting it on overhead so now I only put it on like a button down shirt open at the front and then zip it.

bibs are incredibly comfortable, good padding but not over the top. Legs are comfortable with the fabric being pretty thin. Has a bit of compression over the belly but not as much as some shorts (but better than say Assos which has none). I’ll definitely buy more. One of the guys nearby who gets kits made has chosen eliel for good reason and I’ll get some.

id put it on the same or higher level than pactimo for the bibs definitely better than castelli or some of the others I own. The jerseys are easily up there with assos.
