Never really got to like Chicago, In fact I dreaded every time I had to visit that big and mostly dark to me city......When I lived in Wisconsin for many years......Maybe that's kinda self explanatory in many ways...

I wanted the moniker 'cheesy' when I signed on but it was already tooken.
Saturday is coming up too fast and I haven't been on a bike since October so this should be interesting.

Now you have a 57cm frame to watch. I'll guess no greater than $1,500.

Oh well.
Keep saving. Something will eventually turn up. They always do sooner or later.
Took the Margherita for a shake down today. I switched the gearing from climbing to the flats of Illinois. Damn that thing is temperamental. I'd say its 95% there. Still get a touch of chain skip.

Sorry, forgot about that one - it's not a pizza or a devilish Russian black cat ("The Master and Margherita" by Bulgakov).
Does it have pre-parallellogram derailleurs? Why is it so temperamental, aside from 50+ crankiness?
I'm in a bit of a dilemma as to what to bring. My trip to the quilt show was yesterday rather than next week, so I might be available next Saturday. But the Masi, while an interesting bike and lovely ride, is really too small, and that leaves the Mondonico, which is barely a CR frame and has modern-built tubular wheels and an Ergo-10 speed drivetrain. If I take the Mondo to Cirque, it would show in the new Hot Rod category. But I'm still sorting out the saddle for that bike, for this season.

Tell me more about this too-small Masi...
I expect to be riding in style, '74 Grand Record, and I look forward to seeing the gang!

While riding vintage is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Your hot rod is most welcome. And likely most interesting.
The Margherita tension arm is quite flexible side to side. If alignment isn't just so, it will want to false shift and will skip the chain. Then the flexy tension arm can then torque hard when that happens and then de-tension making a very loud "pop" with eventually the chain coming off.

I'm out. Took the grandkid roller skating for her first time. She went down, then grandpa tripped over her and landed on his left knee, hard. Feels like ICE for the next few days.

I'm still going to try to make it as well... 35 isn't that bad, and the wind forecast looks light as well.

Don't worry, there's a chance of snow for Friday.
Unfortunately, my job requires that I will remain up to my eyeballs with flood damage here in the City. I'll be working for much of the weekend, unfortunately.
I can't believe that I'm going to miss CB400 Bill again! My user id could've been cb360 Bob, back when I was in college.

That stinks Bob, I was hoping to see there. Michael and I are going, maybe we can get together another weekend.

Man, that is an unpleasant forecast for tomorrow. But better than today, at least.
If I head out and encounter floodwaters though, I'm turning back!
Otherwise...see you guys in the AM!

Up. Not quite ready to go, but I should be there unless I get blocked by flooding.
