Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What is up with Jim Felt's ego?

Haha.. I don't know how many others are riding Felts out there, but I just bought mine... I counted today, and there are 26 different Felt logos on the bike... 26! (assuming I dind't miss any). There are even litle rubber rings on the shift cables that say Felt on em. What's with this guy?

Did you know that there's a piece of metal hidden in the foam under the leather in your saddle that has the Felt logo in reverse? That way, if you ride your bike more than 50 miles, you will have the Felt logo imprinted on your butt cheeks.

Just kidding, I love my Felt, logos and all.

Rofl that's hilarious... Which one do you have? I've only had mine a couple days, but I love it! (F80)

Oh btw, where are you in Honolulu?... I studied "abroad" at UH Manoa last semester

Nice ride, congratulations! I have the Felt S25 - it's a DuraAce equipped tri-bike. I live in lower Manoa (Metcalf St.)- about 1/2 mile away from campus. I have my B.A. from UH Manoa - graduated in 1989. Man, I sure miss being a student there. Those were some fun times, but alas, I had to grow up!

That's pretty funny. My De Rosa only says "De Rosa" twice, once on each side of the downtube. Ugo has something to learn about self-promotion!

I never understood why someone would pay full price for a bike or whatever... and let the manufacturer advertise all over it. That is the craziest system ever. Kinda like buying a new car and having the dealer stick his sticker on the back of it... NO WAY!! I told my dealer it would cost him $5000 a year for me to advertise his name on my car... I paid him $27,000 for my car and my name in no where on their dealer sign!!

I’d called Felt and ask them to send you some money for advertising their product!!

just in case you forget what it is, my bike says the manufacturer name on the downtube, seattube, and seatstays... no company logo printed on the seatpost. I think there's another small one on the stem, and on the centre of the bars. my cheap specialized-branded water bottle cages also have the S on them.

You may have missed the one on the nose of the saddle

but from the back, drivers might think i'm riding a cannondale... the seatbag says "CANNONDALE" across it in dark letters on its horizontal reflective stripe.

If I was one of the best motocross mechanics in the world and then started building bicycle frames and became one of the most popular frame builders, I would probably do the same thing.

Maybe he just felt like it.

And DeRosa doesn't NEED to self-promote.

Yep. If I ever built a bike frame, I'd stamp my name all over it. Obnoxiously. As I rode it, it would splinter and collapse into a spectacular pile of schrapnel. But that's if I built it.

Mr. Felt can do what he likes.

Don't see anything wrong with it. He is proud of his product. I'd be more nervous if it was a POS and he was aftaid of being associated with it. There is probably no basis for fact but I find with local businesses that use their family name they are generally more honest and give better service. In a sense they are standing behind their name as opposed to a business that uses a catchy name and they can walk away. I know this is a big generalization.

He should take off half the logos and replace them with "Not Trek".

Call me a jerk but I just don't see why this bothers anyone. If it bothers the OP so much, just remove the labels. I have much more important things to concern myself with than the decals on my bike, which I actually like.
[IMG][/IMG]

Heck, the logo is even on the seatpost

I've got a Felt F60 and there are even tiny Felt logos on the rubber part of the brake and shift cables. The only lettering that really bums me out are the "Custom Carbon Stays" printed down the stays. Pretty lame. And maybe the "F" logo'd on the tape that covers the carbon/aluminum joints. Hmm..maybe I should just cover those with black electrical tape...
