Do you know how many bikes you have owned?
I know exactly how many bikes I have owned in my life and the brand and in most cases the model of every one. Are there others that have kept track of every bike they have owned? As of September 4, 2018 I have owned exactly 148 bikes.

N=? Bikes
Around 82-88.... And I remember all of them and how we parted.
Starting back in the early 50's my first bike was a 26" balloon tired RollFast. It looked like this maroon and ivory sleek beauty but had a horn case. It gave me my first taste of freedom!
Currently N=~72.... (but about 20 are bare frames awaiting their turn for renewed glory)

Though only about fifty were special, to me, I have owned close to 500+ vintage road bikes, roadsters and antiques. Of all of those, I have paired my fleet down to six bikes, or seven, or eight from time to time. These days I work on older school rides for myself and I take on two or three build contracts for others, each year.
The Old Shed has seen hundreds and perhaps even a thousand vintage bicycles come and go over the years. Now, even The Old Shed is no more as I sold that property about five years ago...

Yes, I know exactly how many bikes I've owned and what brand they were. And, sadly, with the exception of my first one, I can tell you how many miles I logged on each one.

Easy,.....
Since I got my latest bike just about a week and a half ago,......Eleven.....
Still have all of them, except my first one which was stolen when I was 12 years old.
I don't really have any room for any more but maybe I can stretch it to a baker's dozen before I die....

Bikes that have been for me?- 19 thru my life with 3 of those being from my childhood. I currently have 7.
If my bigwheel as a kid is counted, that would make an even 20!
As for how many I have owned in general?...i used to keep track but lost count a few years ago when the spreadsheet became too much work to maintain. Its closing in on 100 though.

I was the bike flipper in my town (Maplewood, NJ) a few years ago. My garage and basement and even yard were stuffed. I nearly qualified for the Hoarders TV show. I snapped out of it when we decided to move back to The City. I gave the biggest piles of crap to the coop in Newark. I don't think I've sold a bike in a few years. So no, there is no hope of knowing how many bikes have gone through my hands. I suppose I could count the ones I got for myself, though. But I won't. At least not now.

June 1962: early 1950s Schwinn "middleweight," 26x1.75" tires, Bendix 2-speed coaster hub, "cantilever" frame ($15)
Dec. 1962: 1962 Bianchi Corsa (bottom of the line model) ($55)
1968-70: Hercules and Armstrong English 3-speeds, converted to 9- and 12-speeds (free or near-free)

1972: 1960 Capo Modell Campagnolo (free)
1973: 1950s Avanti track bike (wedding gift from wife's brother)

14 bikes, 56 years, 100,000+ miles of exercise, enjoyment, economical transportation, and camaraderie on the road and later on the Internet --
not a bad investment. Other than the Sieger, nothing really collectible or top-of-the-line.

OK, the question burned in my mind, so I made a list of all the bikes I can remember. I've had some extremely bad luck with getting bikes stolen, so that is one of the reasons I've had so many. Starting with the tricycle I got at age three or so, I've had 26. That includes the tandem that my wife and I ride. I may have forgotten a bike or two, and I'll add to the list as time goes on. I'm counting only the bikes given to me (when I was a kid) for me to keep, the bikes I've bought for myself to keep (and not sell), and the framesets that I built into bikes for me to keep.
26 bikes, and I'm 57 years old. It's a lot, really.

This question got under my skin, so I started listing them out. I got up to 80, and I am sure I am forgetting some.
Of the 80, two were full custom built for me, but I only kept one of them; there were three Raleigh Tourists, 8 were Raleigh Sports or variants thereof; 22 were Raleighs of some stripe or another (including Rudges built post-1943); 6 were Peugeots with 3-tubes or more 531; 6 were Gitanes, of which three were 60 cm TdFs, and all of those were green; and of all the ones that I have let go of, I really only miss one, the early Competition or Gran Sport covered in housepaint that I rescued from a trash heap and built up as a fixed-gear. That was a special bike, and I regret parting with that one.
