Member info dominates screen

Member info dominates screen
A few months ago with a probable change to the software - member info would dominate over half of the screen on an iPhone running ios13, yes, after I tapped the collapse x, it would go away.
with a forced upgrade to ios14 the member header info is back, I can collapse it but once I scroll to another post it is back, the member info field is huge and essentially useless. Lots of blank space.
anything to be done?
I did not see a global settings tool to kill it.
I was able to get rid of member icons as those take up room, but cannot see a way to stop this returned expanded info field. It just gets in the way.

Ive seen it on my iphone. Wait a few seconds and it goes away. It takes longer to go away on threads with lots of photos.

Really a nuisance
at work goes away in 10-15 seconds after page loads.
at home, 20-40 seconds and when I navigate to reply, another 20 seconds plus.
open a different thread and the cycle repeats.

At work, desktop,does not seem to invade on that once I am signed in.

Last night the member icons or small picture ( I forget what they are named) on the phone popped back, earlier I had deleted that configuration when I am signed in.
