Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I think that happens to everyone at least once when on fixed gear, or when moving up to clipless. I did it once at a stop light, only the people in the other lane saw me. I bust my wrist kinda hard too.

It's a rite of passage, I'm just mad mine happened in front of a sorority.

I slammed into a crackhead today, my first crash in ages and the first crash where I have ever smashed into anyone. It was surreal, I will post some images later...

I for one wish I had more mishaps, or remember mishaps, to draw in paint.
I'll be sure to go out and get myself into them.

I love this thread. I'm going on my first fixed ride through the city today so I might have something later. All I have now are childhood memories

This was on our MUT. It is perfectly flat and straight for miles. It took me a few minutes to catch up to these people. Their dog was walking nicely beside them the whole way and I figured they had it on a leash. When I was just a few feet away it turned sideways and it had the proportions of a snake. Nowhere to go, so locked the tires up. The nice couple never took the ice creams away from their faces even though I was yelling, about to chop their dog in half with my tires and skidding. Never said anything to me. In fact, they never even acknowledged any of this. Must have been some damn good ice cream.

EDIT - Sorry bout the artifacts.
