Can someone recommend a shop apron?
Park Tools and Finish Line have some that are reasonably priced on Amazon, but I'm wondering if anyone around here has a fave - and why do you like it?
Ease of putting on and taking off gets bonus points, since I work on my bikes sporadically.

My wife is an artist and runs through a lot of aprons. She either buys them from restaurant supply houses when they are on sale, or simply sews a few straps on pieces of canvas or denim she cuts out of old jackets/dresses/etc. She also keeps a few oversized shirts around to throw on.
Why spend money on something you're just going to smear grease on?

I use a Park Tool and also an ACE Hardware, The Ace has one pocket and the Park Tool has 3, 1 pencil and 2 larger ones

Denim apron
I have a Carhart denim apron that I purchase from Sierra Trading Post, on-line, for $20. It is well made and should last a long time. It has a total of 13 pockets of various sizes, including one with a zipper. I am pretty sure STP no longer has them, but you should be able to find them somewhere with a google search. I really like because it has very good coverage, and I have a tendency to set tools down and then not be able to find them again with out searching. With all the pockets I can keep what tools I need with me. I can get a picture of it a bit later. The same style was also offered in duck brown material.

All the mechanics I know (and at the shops I worked at) use the heavy-duty Park apron. It was the only one I found that was still comfortable at the end of a 12 hour, first nice weekend of the spring, shift.

I too get mine from a restaurant supply place. Can get them cheap. When they are no good throw them away. I can get them for about 5 bucks.

Not only is it heavy duty with great straps but it has a split up the middle.This allows you to test ride your bike with the apron on and tools won't fall out. This feature alone makes it worth it to me. I also have a nice apron from OPUS cycles that I like. Lots of great pockets and again great straps to help distribute the weight of the tools on your shoulders.

That Silca apron would be at the top of my list if I worked FT in a bike shop...But for home use, it's a bit pricey.
I appreciate all of the other recommendations...Am looking them over on the 'net. I figured there would be some good options from companies that are outside of the cycling goods industry.

A cheap denim apron works fine for me. I have a bit of an apron fetish and have lots of aprons and wear them often. I look like I'm not wearing pants when my apron comes down below my shorts. I once showed up like that at a guy's house. The guy was selling a Hoosier cabinet, and he asked what's with the apron. I didn't have an answer, except, I wear aprons.

Since we're on the subject, I'm looking for a pencil to keep behind my ear. I'm wondering if anyone around here has a fave - and why do you like it? Where did you get it and how much did it cost? Could you loan it to me to try-out? Where's the best place to go shopping for a pencil? Which one is absolute best and why?

I have a new Park and a new FinishLine apron.
Lots of pocket each and the FinishLine has a neat magnetic chest pocket for small parts and tools.
Bike Shop Tai Chi to put them on.
I don’t undo the straps, instead I kinda climb up into them.
Now, the eBay NOS Park apron has just simple apron strings...reach back, tie a bow and go.
