Thinking about upgrading…Tcr to Tcr thoughts appreciated
Currently ride a 2018 Tcr advanced pro, Ultegra mechanical. Have the opportunity to grab a new 2019 Tcr advanced pro sl0 dura ace. It’s they top of the line bike in 2019. I love the fit and fill of my current bike. Is there enough of a difference in the frame/components/wheelset to justify an upgrade? Thoughts?

looks like giant did the upgrade on the tcr in 2020 so you may not even notice a few grams and basically just be buying a newer version of your current bike. going to dura ace might be nice but I would buy the newest bike I could afford if I was looking to buy. I have a 2016 tcr and nothing out there jumps out and says hey I gotta have that bike. I might upgrade the drivetrain but it's almost better to just buy the whole package already to go with a complete bike. not sure this helps.

I wouldn't think there'd be enough difference to make spending anything but a small sum worth it.
I like my Di2 since my current bike has it, but I can't say that I truly like it better for shifting than I did my cable pulled stuff on prior bikes. The pros though for electronic shifting IMO are wires can be run through the frame internally much easier and with less issues. So cleaning the bike is easier with the cables out of the way. And the electronic stuff so far has not required much of anything in the last three years for me except for charging. Whereas mechanical I'd have been adjusting it several times in that period. Maybe even changing cables.
I'd probably pass and save for a new bike with Di2 or Etap.

The change to the latest version of TCR happened for model year 2021, so the differences between the two bikes in question are the seatmast and electronic shifting. You'd get a small weight savings and small increase in comfort from the compliance of the seatmast, but the thing you'd really notice is the upgrade to Di2. So I would say the question here is whether the cost of the new bike (and maybe you plan to sell the old one to offset it) is within reason for a drivetrain upgrade. But really, don't let anyone tell you not to buy a bike that you find interesting and can afford - life is too short for that kind of negativity!
