I proved myself this last week on the bike tour as ground / repair coordinator.
Hired good people. We ate well ($50+ per diem which was never used because we ate all meals on the ship, and that food was goood)
fixed a few bikes. Rode a few rides. And now I’m in charge of future hiring for ground & repair.
upcoming: Greece, New Zealand, Tahiti, along the Mississippi, Croatia, Prague and I think they are about to announce another Japan.
$300 a day
$50 a day for food
$ tips for repairs
all transport to/from USA to ride starts/ends included.
trips are one week but may include a day before/after (paid of course).

Must have a smart phone and light repair skills. The most I did was change a few tires, tighten a few forks and straighten some disc brakes which are surprisingly fragile and don't like to stay true.
Bob and Larry tackled from more involved things, like create a proper length spoke from two short ones. That was genius.

Avoid the logging trucks and you'll be fine. 101 is fine. Did that from Seaside to Coos Bay just fine. 126 to Eugene can be harrowing.

Maybe I should retire sooner! I rode 5-day tours with Vermont Bicycle Touring pretty much every year beginning in 1980 and got to know one of their directors pretty well. Sometime in the late 80s he asked me to be a "guest leader" because they always needed extra hands during foliage season and I had the necessary skills. I had a great time with half a day driving sweep and half a day riding sweep. Essentially got a little pay + tips for my vacation. To be clear, I was lucky in that nobody got hurt on any of my tours, that was a possibility that was always around the corner...
