Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got FELT up, and I liked it!

Well, I made the decision to buy myself a new bike, and sell my old one. I got this last week and I could not be more happy. The fit is absolutely amazing. I got it professionally fit so that it would be comfortable for me. As you will see, the stem is quite the opposite of "slammed" but thats alright. haha.

Its awesome what having the right bike for you will do. All I want to do is get out and ride it!

Enjoy.

P.S. I haven't seem much FELT love, so if you have one. Post it up.

Haha, very much so. But with getting out riding more. I imagine I will lose some of this gut and gain some flexibility. Then maybe next year adjust it down a little next season. Lucky its an adjustable angle stem.

Awesome. I had a felt F5 in 2013..what an amazing light, comfortable bike. Had to sell it due to some flexing.

Adjustable angle stem?

I like the black and yellow.

There is a thread from a few weeks/months back, titled "Felt Up," or some such, where folks posted photos of their Felt road bikes.

I know a few Felt riders and they seem to be really happy with their bike choice.

yeah you can take the stem off and adjust the tilt of it, up or down a certain amount of degrees.

Thanks!

Dang it, I must have missed that.

Nice bike, but for the love of Fred move your shifters down at least so your levers are vertical to the ground like they should be. You look like a total newb with them the way they are.

It's cool how the front brake cable goes inside the fork leg. Hey OP, do you know how much it weighs?

I might have to try that. But right now, it's very comfortable. So I'll probably ride it like that for awhile. At the expense of looking like a fool.

Shifting and braking in the drops would be near impossible unless your fingers are six inches long. Looks like you're riding a chopper with suicide bars

lol. So would you recommend just rotating the bars down a little. Or adjusting the shifters themselves down?

Got a used 2011 Felt F85 a few weeks ago. One thing led to another and now it can hardly be called an F85 anymore, at least once the repairs will have been completed (new bar tape, new cables and housings, new shifters, new chain, new wheels, new tires, new cassette, new calipers, new saddle and new temporary pedals and toe clips).

I'll post it once it's done.

Glad you're loving yours !

You want the tips of your bars pointed generally towards the middle of your seatstays. Yours looks correct but it's kind of hard to tell since your bars are so high. But like I said before, with your shifters so high it has to be hard to shift and brake from the drops. You should be able to grab the brake lever with one or two fingers in the drops so you want them verticle to the ground like this one:

Bar height is another subject but I would think anyone would be comfortable with the bars no higher than level with the saddle, it has to be impossible to get into an aero position with as high as yours are. It looks like your steerer tube has already been cut. You bought it used?

I love my Felt! It's a 2013 F75. It's a great bike that I got for a good price.

Here it is (apologies for the bad picture).

2011 Felt F85

Changes made:

Saddle: Specialized Avatar Comp Gel
Bar Tape: Specialized Roubaix
Shifters: 105 5700
Cables: Shimano PTFE
BB: FSA Square Taper (7420ST I think)
Calipers: Some Tektro that came from a 2014 GT GTR Carbon Team
Chain: Ultegra CN-6701
Wheels: Mavic Cosmic Elite S (Got these brand new with a brand new ultegra cassette installed for $400 cad)
Cassette: Ultegra 6700
Tires: Vittoria Rubino Pro
Computer: Cateye Strada Wireless cadence/speed

I plan on switching to 105 calipers, Shimano SPD pedals and new crankset/BB.

You're correct, it is a little challenging to reach the levers from the drops, so I might start thinking about changing that a little. But as of right now, I don't use the drops all that much.

I got the bike brand new so I doubt that anything was cut down already. I do understand that my handlebars are pretty high, but right now, its set up for comfort, because being aero is the least of my worries at the moment.

Thank you for your input! I'll be thinking about my lever placement a little more on my next rides.
