Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Here are the rest of the pics of my Raleigh SS build. I have a few more additions coming and Ill post an update when it's all complete.

I was amazed at how clean this bike was; it appears she was well cared for and ridden very little.

Regards

Rod

Kenda KrossCyclo K161 27 x 1 3/8 tires. I put new 700c presta tubes in them as well. I used 2 washers as adapters that I ground and flattened the sides so they would fit inside the rims and under the schrader hole. So far so good.

Aren't those horizontal dropouts? You can lose the tensioner.

Not if he's wanting to use both cogs.

Finally back on the bike with some new wheels. Went with what I could afford, Aventon Push wheelset for $150 shipped. Included tires, tubes, cog and lockring.

Chrome door handles and anything hanging from the mirror ruin it for me.

The tree fort makes up for it though. It is awesome.

How do you like that tail light? Blitzu? I didn't like it at all.

Yes they are horizontal, but of the shorter variety. Ultraman is correct, I wanted to use both gears, and the tensioner was the simplest way to achieve it. Chain length was very close though, maybe a 1/2 link? But that would have kept me off the road for another week waiting on a $1.50 part with $5.00 shipping. I already had the Gusset tensioner for a bike that had vertical dropouts; but decided to go another direction when out of necessity I gave my son that bike(1989 Bianchi Allante). No sense in wasting the part, wasn't what I wanted ideally, but it was the most pragmatic solution to the problem at hand. Mrs Teague is happy that I have a bike; and, I can ride with her again. Happy wife, longer life!

Best Regards

Rod

Paying too much attention to the wifes ride. Lol. The tree fort was a little weekend project for my daughter. I thought for sure our HOA would yell at me, but the president came over and said what a great idea it was. It's been up for a few years now and hardly gets played in.

The blitzu light does ok. I have to charge it twice a week and it rattles around a little. But its red and bright, so thats good with me.

Love this bike, man. The colours, the lines, the frame, perfect.

I couldn't run it with lights/saddle bag though, too much clutter. Just have to risk getting hit/getting punctures for the sake of looking cool

Thanks man! Yeah, I feel ya. I sometimes ride it without the saddle bag, but the rear light is a must for commuting. Head light only goes on now that Daylight Savings is in effect. I carry a big enough backpack now, that my flat kit could easily fit in my bag, just not sure why I tend to leave it there. lol

Just rode it for the first time off the workbench today... thinking of getting a taller stem. You think the saddle should be “flatter”?
