Disc Brake Quiet for Bikes?

I recently started working at a different bike shop and had to ask another tech where they kept their disc brake pad spreaders. The guy tried to hand me a packet of disc brake quiet; like the kind I sometimes use when replacing the brake pads on my car. At first I'm sure I gave him a dumb look and just started digging around myself to eventually found one. But later I realized he must have heard me say pad spread? Like spreading butter on toast? Has anyone here ever used such a product on bicycles?

Yep, sometimes you need a bit of compound to quiet the pads.

Just a dab of any old bike grease on the backs of the pads, i.e. against the pistons. I find that it stops 'turkey warble' in my avid elixir 7s
