Foreign Craigslist Ads C&V
Several years ago, before I was into bikes, I purchased something to get around town on via leboncoin.fr, the French equivalent of Craigslist. I was living in France for a short period. Now, as any Bicycle Quarterly subscriber can tell you, I realize that France has a lot of randonneur/touring style bicycles and other nice C&V bikes that were probably never imported to the US. Lots of Huret parts, dynamo lighting, 650b tires, Vitus tubing, and full racks & fenders. I thought it'd be interesting to start a thread sharing some interesting classified ads for C&V bikes from other countries. If you're from a different part of the world, don't hesitate to share what's around you!

Huret, Helicomatic hub, Mafac brakes, Vitus 172 butted tubing, clearance for 35mm tires, and selling for 100 euros.

Cool, that you opened a thread for this. I was thinking about it for a while, but then always thought what's the point, who' interested in the cool deals, what's almost always impossible to get to the other part of the pond, or even out from the countries. I totally like to look what's going on elsewhere, and while I'm not a rando guy (actually almost became one, but you'll se my entry below).
So here's my entry, a while ago I posted this bike in the "Show me something interesting" thread, I fell in love with it for first sight not much long before that.
Just for kicks, being almost sure that these things might be really rare even in France, checked Leboncoin, where a not so blingy, but an okay looking one is for sale for EUR640
https://www.leboncoin.fr/collection/2311975174.htm
for me what was interesting is another example popped up on the Marktplaats (in The Netherlands) for EUR250, had drop bar and had the first ever Shimano disc brakes. Unfortunately (or luckilly) the seller didn't ship and got sold yesterday. But the French example is a nice one as well, even if not as nice as above pic with all the extras.

There is too much of mixed stuff most mid range even though there are some high end bikes,I have never bought anything from le bon coin.
This is a good deal Vélo de course vintage peugeot, another one Vélo de course concorde mistral 320 €,another one Vélo de course vintage Peugeot Racing Team (same frame than mine in Reynolds 708 classic but on this one forks seems to be slightly bent),regarding accessories, not as much choice regarding high end items as on Ebay

I’ve never been able to get a response from the French sellers, even with the use of Google translate. So I don’t know if the sellers would even ship to the US, with correct packaging. A shame as I’ve seen some fine bikes…..

Normally they ship worldwide (at least they do on ebay), use deepl.com for a more accurate translation in French otherwise write them in English.

About 10 years ago there was a forum member here at BF that would facilitate bikes from in and around Ghent, Belgium and I bought many bikes over a 5(ish) year period.
Vintage bikes were not a hot commodity back then so there were some crazy deals....plus the Euro was much lower in value against the dollar
I'll post up some pics of the bikes I still have shortly...

A couple of Vitus 979 bikes. One built up with Campagnolo Delta brakes, the other a NOS frame with tags lol.
Shoe on the other foot, I'd imagine other people would find the early mountain bike supply we have in the US to be more exciting.
Of course, due to supply and demand, sometimes the mid-range stuff can be 'interesting' to someone else. I recently almost bought a rusty old Gazelle step through from a dutchman who had brought it with him to the US many years ago. Wouldn't have been at all remarkable in the Netherlands, but because that style of bike was never really a thing here, There's now a shortage of $50 bikes with chaincases and fenders that you wouldn't mind locking outside a bar for a week.

At marktplaats.nl, there is this Mercier from the 1950s or 1960s. With 650b and guidonnets. It looks all original, except bar tape, it's even ready for bikepacking Might be pick-up only. The price is a bit steep at 340 Euro.

There is also this Tower Lincoln Imp in 531. It's similar as an Elswink Hopper and probably from 1953. The seller is a nice guy, I don't know if he does shipping overseas.

Then there is this frame from the same seller, but it has been sold already. A nice Lacroix in flamboyant colors, you like it or you don't. Columbus Gara. I didn't know the brand, but recently I saw another one at marktplaats.

This where you can create an account. Does it require a +31 phone number? Or do you get a region block? In case of a region block, a VPN might help.

I'm a member of UK's Veteran-Cycle Club, and in the monthly News & Views there's a "marketplace" section with all kinds of interesting old Brit bits for sale. Example page below:

But making sure not to have a typo also helps, its 2 'a's and 1 't' https://www.marktplaats.nl/ (not marktplatts)

gitane champion team marktplaats.nl 1960s
Currently there is a Gitane Champion Team for sale on marktplaats.nl.
You don't often see Gitanes from the early 1960s with these transfers. The model is not something I can find anything on. Not all the original parts are there anymore, but the frameset is nice.

My seven speed Special...
And one I got just before I bailed for the islands, a full Campy Record work of art that I have not even had a chance to ride it yet. Yes, I do have the original fork and it is not bent...
And, silly me, I gave this one to one of my sons-in-law last summer...
In my opinion, Marinoni bicycles belong in the top of the line category, well some of them anyway.
