I wouldn’t mind some matte green or matte red.

I wish there here were fewer gloss finishes.

Don't get a Trek in a boring color when you can get a USA made Allied for a better price in any color you want.

My current bike is matte black. i chose it for 2 reasons:

1) I like the say it looks
2) It doesn't attract attention..

A few years ago I was on my Trek Madone waiting for a traffic light to change. A pickup truck was next to me and one guy leaned out and said "that bike looks expensive". He then opened the door so I took off. i wasn't going to hang around to see if he just wanted a closer look.

A matte back bike looks cheap and i'm good with that.

I guess I can get away with a flashier Madone here in rural horse country. Also, I'm 6'2" and 240 lbs and that may ward off some evil spirits.

there is so much going on in this picture that it would be tough to ever claim this is a boring looking bike.

what's the circuit board on the front spokes for?

I personally will celebrate when the whole matte black/charcoal craze is over. I'm not one to buy something based on the aesthetics but it sure is hard to get excited about any of them. I understand the bike companies offering it due to the current popularity but to not offer any alternatives seems rather idiotic to me.

I was surprised at all the black bikes when I was looking for my first bike in over 10 years. I like black so I'm fine with it but I can see how it's annoying for other people.

My only complaint with anodized paint, touch ups are harder to hide. Matte black is my usual preference for frame/fork, Too bad it got popular.

Trek is giving a little more choice in colors on some of it's models. More of it's gravel bike line seem to have some better color options. Blues, oranges, reds, greenish-yellow. Their other lines also have colors options too that seem to be more than they've had in previous years.

I imagine that it causes some issues for LBS's that can't afford to stock every model in every color. But I'm happy to see that maybe there will be some variety of colors out there on the road and trail. I don't care if it's gloss or matte, just show me some colorful bikes people!

Though the excuse that matte black might make an otherwise high dollar bike look less valuable in a high theft rate area is a good point to consider.

Thanks for setting me straight on that. I don't know why I had it in my head that they were being produced overseas. The beauty of the net is that if you are wrong on something, you won't be for long!

I like colors, but my only modern bike is black, or mostly black. I would have preferred a color, but getting the right bike was more important to me than what it looked like. At least it has some pearly white and gold accents.
I have a running joke with my brother-in-law: whenever we're supposed to meet up for a charity ride I always tell him, "I'll be the guy on the black bike, you know, with the black shoes and shorts to match."
